I like Chrome, but this Longhorn Front is a Bit Much

i would trade my chrome for a black grill n a second...

Longhorns are pretty subdued these days, certainly not gaudy. You can't even get the filigree on the seats in the black and tan interior. Longhorn interiors are just so good, it's a must have for me. I'm not even into western stuff. I looked hard at the Limited but to me it just looks like a fancy Laramie whereas the Longhorn is in its own class.

I'd put the Longhorn in the same category as Ford's Platinum and Chevy's High Country. But for some reason the Ram just seems to have way more chrome.

It also has more power but that's not the issue here. LOL.

My truck is on its way but since I don't have it yet I borrowed this photo snip from a YouTube review. Its a little too much chrome for me. Same truck that I'm getting other than clearance lamps (still kicking myself but that's another story). I almost went with painted bumpers, but painted bumpers I've owned in the past are subject to chipping and corrosion. Of all the grills RAM offers for these trucks, this Longhorn grill is my least favorite.

My first thought is possibly getting the front bumper wrapped, but I've read that wrapping chrome can be difficult and it may not hold up. Second thought is to have the chrome trim around the grill and headlights wrapped - again wondering about issues wrapping. Third is to possibly swap the grill for something like a Limited or Laramie - those ones at least don't have as much solid chrome to them (at least to me).

Looking for opinions and ideas!

Its funny you dont like the grill , that was what i wanted on my laramie was that grill but didnt want to buy one outright so just decided to keep my original. I just dont like the u shaped pieces on the right and left of the ram emblem on mine. I think the longhorn looks smooth and clean. But to each his own on style thats for sure. Enjoy your new truck when it arrives , only had mine less then a week now and love it !

I agree that its each to his own styling. I'd love a Limited grill. I also like the Laramie grill. Speaking of the whole truck though, I totally love mine! I've had it a month or so and just passed 800 miles. While I'm not a total fan of RAM body styling (I like more of the GM styling) I absolutely love the interior, and that's what I see the most of when I'm driving! ;)

Tradesman grill swap is the best in my mind it has minimal chrome and a nice pattern in it best front end pic i have of mine
That's the second one in the thread with chrome on the side opening and chrome ram. Is that a tradesman grill?
My tradesman grill only has chrome ram. Everything else is black. Just curious

Love my Longhorn grill. I get more complements on the grill than any Ram I have owned. Sometime in the early 70s, chrome slowly started to disappear, which was quite detraction from the 50s and 60s that were literally gleaming with chrome. Now a days its hard to find cars with chrome bumpers of anything else chrome.
I just find it interesting that we love to see chrome on older vehicles. but not the newer ones.

Plasti-dip or Hyper-dip?
I’m sure either would work. Plasti-dip tends to be thought of as “removable” and, while it is, it’s also very durable. It dries as fast as spray paint but Let it cure for a good week or two and you can take it through the car wash or even use a pressure washer on it (there is a psi limit but I can’t remember what it is)

I think it looks beautiful, That's how I order my Long Horn Limited (2 tone paint pearl white & walnut brown). Didn't want to pay 495 for painted bumpers so I got chrome ones.

I have no clue do you have the chrome appearance group?

I deleted painted bumpers. So my understanding is bumpers will be chrome like the front grill an headlight trim.

I take back everything I said about too much chrome on the front of my Longhorn. My wife and I took a day trip today through southern MN. I was amazed how many bugs we hit. When I got home, they all easily wiped off the chrome with a wet towel. I feel much more comfortable cleaning bugs off a chrome surface vs painted. Just my two cents...
