My truck is on its way but since I don't have it yet I borrowed this photo snip from a YouTube review. Its a little too much chrome for me. Same truck that I'm getting other than clearance lamps (still kicking myself but that's another story). I almost went with painted bumpers, but painted bumpers I've owned in the past are subject to chipping and corrosion. Of all the grills RAM offers for these trucks, this Longhorn grill is my least favorite.

My first thought is possibly getting the front bumper wrapped, but I've read that wrapping chrome can be difficult and it may not hold up. Second thought is to have the chrome trim around the grill and headlights wrapped - again wondering about issues wrapping. Third is to possibly swap the grill for something like a Limited or Laramie - those ones at least don't have as much solid chrome to them (at least to me).

Looking for opinions and ideas!

My Tradesman was too bright for me so I can see your worry. I debated everything you have mentioned. I swapped the Chrome RAM in the center for the black letters and swapped in the blacked factory halogen headlights. It was enough to tone it down for me to like it again. You may be able to do the black LED factory version of your headlights and it make a big difference. Just a option.

One of the reasons I went with silver on my Longhorn. It helps blend in all that chrome and keep it from popping out like it would with a color with more contrast.

I like the Longhorn grill but combined with chrome bumper was too much. Ordered painted bumper and will wrap it Along with the hood leading edge.

I personally don't think you should change it. Once you get yours it will grow on you.

If you are, go with the Limited.

I will admit that I like the Tradesman set up where the upper and lower grills match.

Aftermarket steel bumper (ranchhand, road armor, steelcraft, etc.) with a full grill would look good and block most of the obnoxious chrome. Plus it adds protection since the factory bumpers aren't very strong.

I wish any of those would make a plow compatible bumper i may have to make one

Thanks for all the ideas! I've never used plasti-dip before. When applied over chrome, how well does it hold up to rock chips, car washes, etc.?

Car washes, pressure washer up to about 1000psi, etc all good to go. Very durable when done right.

as far as rock chips... don’t follow too closely. Rocks don’t care what kind of paint you have.

Thanks...this is great info. Any idea of how it holds up vs doing a vinyl wrap on those components.

Longhorn is the cowboy Cadillac of the Ram world. Wait'll you get a load of all the gaudy engraving script like it's a tacky Colt SAA on a Roy Rogers set.

Every time a Longhorn that is converted from it's gaudyness pulls up to a Honky Tonk, a T. Boone Pickins well runs dry.

Think of his great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandchildren that could go hungry before you change it.

Assuming that you are referring to the laser etching (Filigree) on the seats? If so, I'm not a fan of it. Fortunately you can order the LongHorns without it.
