How to turn off the beeping when in reverse with the tailgate down?

Did Dodge really think it was so dangerous to drive in reverse with the tailgate down that they designed in the obnoxious beeping as a warning? I am quite capable of moving the truck backwards with the tailgate down, have never smashed anything or killed anyone doing so, and don't need a babysitter yelling at me when I try.

With my rant out of the way, is there a way to disable the beeping when the tailgate is down and the truck is in reverse? I did a quick look through the screen options and didn't see anything.

Is it your park sense? If so that can be turned off.

Or you have the backup alarm?

That can also be disabled, I think it's in the EVIC commercial settings.

can I add on a question here?

I have my rear park sense turned off. Have had it that way for a long time.

My truck will still give me a “stern tone” if I goose it in reverse regardless of what’s behind me. What setting is this?

My 4th gen did that, usually only happened if I spun the tires in reverse, I have no idea why

OK Ok.....I take back my rant. I paid $295 for Rear Parksense and guess what - it works!! Ha ha. I certainly didn't think it'd have anything to do with the tailgate, but it does.

Once again, the forum solves the mystery.
FYI, it will do it with a big hitch in the receiver too…….

Mine had a dealer flash for something else and never heard it again after that it used to drive me nuts

There was a TSB for the front sensor acting up in reverse but I thought it was only when a trailer was connected.

Check out this TSB, it was a rollup for a bunch of problems. Park Sense, Lane Sense, etc.

Also, FWIW, you can adjust the volume level of the park-sense alarm in the settings. It default to ‘LOUD AF’.

If it does what mine does, it doesn't like how fast you are backing up.

Quick question, I haven't looked for the settings yet, but when you turn them off are they permanently off? I don't want to completely disable the parking sensors, it does come in handy time to time.

Just don't understand, they give us the option for the goose neck/5th wheel prep package, and they even give us the option of dropping the tailgate from inside the cab, one would've thought the truck could be programmed to mute the parking sensors when the tailgate is down? Hell the tailgate camera is rendered useless at that point! Both the tailgate camera and parking sensors should be disabled and the bed camera (if equipped) should default to on. I guess there's no way to program this?
