I bought a used ambulance to convert into a motorhome for weekend camping trips. The plan is to get it converted, then use it tow a trailer to the camp spot, then use the ATV to explore. However, I also have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe on 35s that would make a nice logging road explorer. But while I am certain the 900lb trailer and 600lb ATV is completely doable; not sure with a bigger trailer and a 5300lb Jeep. Trailer weight is going to be another 1900lbs or so.
Looking at a weight of 7500lbs. Not insignificant.
But, the ambulance chassis is based on a Class 6 truck...
The engine is a Navistar DT466 Maxxforce engine and the horsepower and torque specs are impossible to figure out. All the internet can say is that is varies from 170hp to 300hp.
The chassis is rated from 10k lbs to 20k lbs.
I'm thinking that the 7500lbs will not be an issue, as long as I can have a custom receiver hitch built that is beefy enough, and that I get a brake controller installed.
Still, I'm guessing that I'm going to have to drive this thing on a scale to get the actual weight of it first, then do some more math.
