How do people feel about the new AEV bumpers?

Thanks for mentioning me. AEV quality is super high! I had a great experience from research phase to after install. I was interested in the bumper way before it came out (it was shown at Sema about ten months before released) and was in touch with AEV many times. I ordered it within 5 minutes of getting the “now available” email. Support was great, FedEx freight was great. I was one of the first to receive the bumper and I also retrofitted the Baja designs fog lights into the bumper (I had no fog lights) so I shared my findings and experiences with AEV

I ordered the bumper with the kit to fit a 16.5 ti winch and, since during COVID, the winch was not available. They were great getting me the kit for mounting the M12s and helping me find a winch somewhere in the country

I have a “normal” truck that doesn’t have 40”s under it. I have a 1” front lift / no rear lift on 35” tires.

I agree that the AEV bumper is one of the better looking aftermarket options, although I think options from Thuren and Ranchhand also have their charms on certain builds.

The one I'm specifically mentioning is the full grille guard and rear bumper.

For example I think it looks amazing on their full build

I think both front and rear match the styling of the truck and look great with the large tires and fenders. Not to mention the added functionality.

That said, on a truck without the flares and 40s I am not sure I feel the same

It doesn't look bad by any means, but it does look to me like it's a bit much?

I don't know, I still can't decide.

I don't know how much they charge as I've not seen pricing yet, but they charge a lot for basically everything. Their products are very well designed, basically to OEM spec, which makes them look great on the vehicles I think.

I keep toying with the idea of doing the flares and 42s, but then I think no I like the way the truck looks now and I don't really need the extra. Then I see a picture again and change my mind.

can you get the spare tire carrier separately? I saw one of the aev trucks when I took a buddy to pick up a wrangler 392. the tire carrier was awesome.

The big hoop was available briefly for about $900 additional bucks for just the hoop. It disappeared and I haven’t seen it since. Maybe that was incorrect

the bumper has gone up tremendously since I ordered mine back in Nov. I paid $1985 plus tax and freight. I think it’s about $500 more now base pricing $2500

my warn M12s was more than the bumper at $2200 for the winch

That white truck is pure sex!!!!

That said, Ive seen some AEV front bumpers (seems more apparent on the Chevy stuff?) where the gap between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the front grille and fender seems too large and uneven.

The quality of the AEV stuff cannot be denied though... very nice stuff!

I am not a fan of the overall look of the AEV setup. They had one at a local dealership. I looked at it before I bought mine. They wanted 100K. I offered them 85K. LOL

Ouch that’s a lot. Don’t get me wrong that’s a lot of truck but I paid $39,101 for my tradesman and have put around 12k into it so I’m at about $50k and have a vehicle that is perfectly useful for my purposes.

If you have a power wagon I don't think the front bumper is worth it. It provides no functionality over the OEM power wagon one. If you have a non-PW model and want to add a winch setup then the front AEV bumper would be my first choice. I really dislike the aftermarket angular bumpers that are so common.

I have the AEV rear bumper on order. It should ship this week. Hopefully, it has better quality control than their front and rear diff covers I have on my truck.

I agree. I only really liked the front bumper and the winch. Damn winch didn't even have synthetic though. I knew I was going to replace the suspension anyway too. At the time there weren't many Cummins on the lots. I don't know what I would have done had they taken the offer. I could be on 40's now though... LOL

If I had the ability to run the power wagon bumper with winch I don't think I would even consider. I admit I do like the design of the AEV bumper, but I'm mostly interested in the winch, just in case.

I really like the design of their stuff, looks oem vs the welded/bent plate designs by most other mfgs.

I have the AEV rear bumper on order for my PW. I think it will go well with the tubular sliders on my truck.

I don’t plan to get their front bumper because it doesn’t add much benefit to my truck since the power wagon already has a winch. I do think the AEV sticks out a bit and has the “lip full of chaw” look especially on trucks without their big flares, but every aftermarket bumper designed to hold a winch has that look. Still, a really nice looking bumper.

definitely depends on the usage. power wagon definitely has better approach angle. I think the power wagon looks better overall but I definitely drool over real prospectors and PXLs (unlike my fake one)

Funny some are getting their rear bumper. I don’t see usefulness in swapping the rear bumper. I plasti-dipped mine and added Baja designs rear floods and AMP step. I don’t need much else back there. Bulletproof hitch or receiver shackle serves as recovery point, if needed. But, I’m sure many people don’t see the point of hanging $5k off the front of their rigs either

Primarily...I like the styling of the rear bumper. Added benefits: it’s less prone to getting crunched like a coke...offroad and on the road, plus the addition of two recovery points is a nice option for being the pulling rig during a dead tow (can set tow straps into “X”). Not sure if I’ll add lights back there but it provides the provision for it which is nice.

I really like the look of the front bumper, no matter the truck. Mildly done like @Rockcrawlerdude or on a full on prospector XL. AEV did lose me on the rear though. I’m just not a big fan of the tube, although I’m sure it would take a hit better than the body would. also As others said it does compliment the front, but I’m just not digging it. If i had to pick I prefer the looks of the expedition one rear.

While I have you on the line, lol, how much length does it add to the front of the truck? When you get a sec, What’s the measurement from the bottom bar of the front grill, to the furthest point out on the bumper?

From front to back my truck is tight in the garage. Still got a couple feet but not much more...
