As the title states... 2020 Tradesman crew cab. Only get driven a couple days a week. I’ve noticed that the console near the floor gets super hot with the heat on. I don’t mean warm. I mean actually, “@&$! that’s hot”, to the touch. It’s the regular bench seat with the plastic tray on the floor in front of the center seat. The plastic storage tray and floor is what is hot to the touch. There is no air blowing on that spot from the hvac, but the ducting to the rear seat goes under that area I assume. Wondering if this is normal or if it’s blocked/disconnected ducting? Rear seat heat works normally. The only other thing I could think of was missing transmission heat shield? That’s a long shot I think.

Anybody else have this issue? Normal? Not so much? I can’t put my phone down there or it will get so hot it turns off. Recently it melted some stuff in my wife’s purse. She had to get a new purse ‍♂️.

I have the ac blasting or I’d check mine for you lol. I will say my floor and console is very cold right now. Carpet and floor shift bench seat console.

There is a joint in the ducting at that location. I would pull up the plastic tray and just double check to ensure the duct is assembled together correctly. My ducting was not clipped together and actually had the carpeting pushed down between the two pieces blocking the rear duct all together. If I remember right, it was only 2 screws holding that tray down.

That’s exactly the info I was looking for. Hopefully that’s it. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks.
