Hey everyone. So I painted my hood emblems to match my truck, but I was wondering if anyone has actually replaced their hood emblems with black ones or chrome plated option and if you have; are they made of aluminum like many aftermarket emblems (similar to the Laramie emblem) or are they like the Cummins, RAM, 4x4 emblems, etc?

I’m changing my color scheme of my truck to black & blue and am trying to decide to re paint my current emblems like I did to match my black or if (the aftermarket emblems are aluminum) powder coat them gloss blue.

thanks in advance for any feedback.

I changed the oem chrome one out in my avatar to the factory black ones.2C416DA5-A1D3-43D7-A23E-4A5E0C797ECC.jpeg

Liking it! Questions:

1) How did you get the black emblems....simple call to the dealership? Other options? Price?
2) Are they a combination of bolt on/stick on?
3) If they are stick on (I am guessing the Cummins emblem on the fender is stick on?), is it tough to get the old ones off, and more importantly, how do you locate the new ones? Also.....is there a lot of confidence in the new ones sticking on as well as the factory chrome ones?

Thank you!

1) I took my factory chrome plated hood emblems off and painted them instead of purchasing the oem black emblems due to the fact I wanted a complete black emblem and the oem black emblems have the red heavy duty. As far as options I have found a few online and I’ve been quoted by the dealership on the black emblems. However do not remember the price.
2) They are both. The hood emblems pop right out and pop right back in. No fuss no muss. The Cummins, RAM, 4x4, Laramie, and RAM head tailgate emblems are all held on by adhesive.
3) It took me longer to get the tools required for removing the emblems than it took to get all the emblems removed. Heated up the emblems with a heat gun and used fishing line to “saw” though the adhesive and remove them. After I used an eraser tool attached to an air tool to get the remaining adhesive off. However I did not replace any emblems except the hood and rear tail gate emblems after I painted them myself. So far the oem adhesive I purchased is holding true on the tail gate emblem with no issues.

I replaced my hood emblems with the black ones that I ordered off ebay from a dealership in Ohio. I paid 117.18 including tax and "free" shipping for both. Keep in mind the "Heavy Duty" lettering is still red, but the entire rest of the emblem is black.

Hey guys! Do you know the name of the red color for the Heavy Duty lettering? It’s not vermilion. I don’t think it’s PMS 485C but these are close. Any thoughts?
