Hood emblem delete?

The gaudy massive emblems on the sides of the hood, just tape glued on? Or are there holes in the sheet metal under em?
 
holes and indentations. you'd need to weld a fill piece to close it off 100%.
 
That badge area is the only thing I don’t like about the truck.
