First off,
2022 Ram 2500 6.4, 3.73 with Bilstein 5100 2.5” level. However, It is the diesel coils though because they were a steal. Honestly, it rides amazing and if it was any softer, I would be flabbergasted because it rides smooth now. I had the Bilstein stabilizer for the first couple hundred miles and then the King stabilizer for about 1500 miles now.
The wheels are a +25 method 315s. Everything is off of CJC.
Initially had no rub except on turns going up curbs. So I trimmed the plastic piece that protrudes the furthest. On the front splash guard and that actually did not solve it so I was kind of bummed. I ended up drilling two small holes and using zip ties to pull the splash shield/wheel liner back and that seems to have solved that. I have done some mild off roading and haven’t heard very much rub at all..
I will say the wheel weights are cutting it close as there is a slight clearance from the wheel weight to the brake caliper.
As far as the Bilstein stabilizer versus the king. I’m not sure if it’s placebo effect or not, but I feel a significant difference on curbs, expansion joints and the mild off Roading I have done.
The Bilstein I won on an auction website for 30 bucks so can’t complain much there as it for sure was an improvement over stock. However, The King is noticeably better than both.
Now on to the tires. Having 35 inch tires prior to this I believe I averaged like 85 to 90 mph on my 20 mile commute to and from work, I hauled ass everywhere. 35 inch tires felt like stock on the truck. And to be honest, didn’t mind them with the exception of the wheel well, just didn’t look like they were filled. I had the Toyo open country AT3 for about 45,000 miles maybe slightly less. I still had a decent amount of tread left.
I replaced them with a Toyo RT Trail 37x12.5R17 and I don’t know if it’s because of everything I have read negative about going with 37 inch tires but I’ve slowed down, I do the speed limit. Truck still feels the same. I have Read in other post that their truck no longer goes in Eco mode, rpm’s dropped dramatically, trouble shifting or not reaching eighth gear. Not that I bought a 2500 gasser for miles per gallon by any means nor have I experienced any of the negative impacts.
I will say the truck still functions as normal (as before) if the RPMs have dropped I haven’t noticed because the truck shifts as it did before Eco mode still engages. I don’t typically drive without selecting the gear. Unless I absolutely space out and forget. But, I experienced several times in the last two days where I intentionally left it in drive and did not select gears, and it did go into Eco mode and did not turn off or disengage until I braked or accelerated.
The tires do whine a little bit more which I’m not concerned about because the drone from my exhaust is far louder. Being in the Marine Corps, the drone actually soothes my tinnitus. so, I don’t care Lol Prior to upgrading tires like I said, I moved with a purpose all the time and average 10 1/2 miles to the gallon. With waiting in parent pick up line Thursday, Fridays, my miles per gallon was like eight because of all the idling. Now I am averaging around 13 and on Thursday Fridays I’m down to about 11 with an hour of idle time in the truck.
On curbs expansion joints and offloading it feels so much better. As of right now, nothing negative all positives in the first 1500 to 2000 miles. Truck looks much better and feels it too.
Overall, I say, if you’re on the fence about it, just pull the trigger and do it.
