HO MPG

I agree with you there but thought it would be the same as the older version Cummins. Thought the MPGs are supposed to be going up as they get more advanced!!
My 2003 HO dually with the 6 speed manual and 4.10 gears would get 23 or better on the highway. Tooling around town was around 17 or so. BUT it had NO emissions crap on it. That is why I bought it when I did in the fall of 2002. Great truck but she was getting long in the tooth, especially for towing my monster fifth wheel. Plus I did most of my own work and OEM parts were starting hard to come by. I am over the top happy with this truck so far even if she is harder on fuel.

What gears? That is probably the most important piece that no one is stating.

My truck: 2021 HO DRW with 4.10s. 100% stock.

Unloaded--16.5-17.5 MPG hand calced overall per tank--70/30 ratio of highway/city. 70-75mph on highway

Loaded--14k lbs 5th wheel toy hauler--low to mid 9's MPG at 70 mph.
This is pretty much what I'm seeing. Although not great, it's better than my 2500 6.4 Hemi, especially when towing!!

I am at about 500 miles now on my ‘22 3500 DRW and my display is saying 11.5. Only 50 or so miles was pulling a stock trailer to and from the county fair. My ‘17 HO got 14 daily driving and 16 on the highway. Kinda worried that this one might be extra thirsty!

Needs to be broken in....it'll loosen up....which gears did you get? I'm only at 2k miles but I got 4.10's and it depends on how fast you drive....I find over 2k rpms mileage drops quick...I don't really get over 70-72 unless I need to pass or something....

I got 3.73s to help with mileage a little. Hope to see some improvement with break-in.

I have 3.73 also and after 25k, still sitting at 15-16. Don’t really do long towing, but have it if I need it. Pull a Kubota back and forth to the dealer for service ever so often.

3.73 here with HO. Average 14~15 on hiway. Got 16 running down hill with a tail wind once. Glad I got the 50 gallon tank.
