High idle not working

Thank you for posting this! I have been under the impression that only HO 3500's have the idle up feature and I have not even tried, when there have been times I have wanted to. I am running out to the truck to give it a shot now!
It worked! Honestly made my day guys! I saw the thread title to this yesterday and ignored it to save myself the pity and just for giggles I opened today and BOOM!.. a feature I will be using almost daily. This forum is good for my soul :p

So, I tried this out this morning.... I wish I would've known this last winter. 2020 2500 ccsb tradesman 6.7

Also works without the parking brake being applied.

After finding this, I need to go through the owners manual again. What else have I missed?

It should do it automatically if its cold

Maybe it has to be very very cold? Because mine does not do it automatically. I need to turn it on manually. But the coldest temperatures that I've started it in so far have been probably 30 degrees at the lowest.

Usually anything below 0*C it kicks in 32*f it will gove a message on the evic saying cabin heating then kick in

It does the auto high idle in certain temps. But I am one of those people that's always cold. Anything under 60 and I'm turning on the heater nice to idle up to get it warmer faster

Fair point lol

Mine works fine cold but if I drive from my house to the first two barns (we have a horse farm) I can get it to high idle again, but if I then drive up to the third barn, it won't high idle again so I'm guessing it won't do it when it's reached a certain temp?

Also it helps to press the magical exhaust brake button ;).
I was just about to say this. I set my high idle and full EB often in the mornings while I'm hooking up my trailer. Helps everything warm up real quick! If I forget the high idle and it's cold enough, the truck will automatically idle up after a min or two.

Warm up will also engage the EB. Pressing the button has no affect on the way it works. If the ECU needs to keep the engine temp up, it will engage the EB.

I didn't know that it would use the EB regardless of you pushing it or not! Pretty cool

So it auto works while moving but normally doesn’t work after slowing down to the predetermined cut off speed? Is that only in park?

I didn't say anything about moving. It engages in park as needed when cold. We're discussing high idle function.

Of course it must be engaged Full On or Auto to work while moving.
