Help with transmission choice on new 2500

Newbie here, going to order 2022 2500 next week. Still researching the web for Allison trans. Possibility. If it’s not available some info on the web offers the 6 and 8 speed. I won’t be towing very heavy and often (3 horse trailer).

what trans offers the best mileage while not towing?

Diesel or gas? Allison is the forever rumor and not an option. Gas is the 8 speed zf. 2500 diesel is the 68rfe 6 speed. 3500 you can get the aisin 6 speed with the HO cummins.
