Driving along today enjoying our Wagoneer Series III and was thinking about how this is a light duty truck substitute and all you need is a trailer to have the best of both worlds. It popped in my head how hard would it be to mount the body on a 2500/3500 Mega cab chassis and go all in with the Cummins 6.7? Would be a beast and haul bumper pulls up to 17,000+ pounds without breaking a sweat!

I would be interested for sure. I realize the Gooseneck/5th Wheel would not be available but damn she would be a brute!

Yup,

There's a reason the old Diesel Ford Excursions are in such high demand and have been for years (especially the ambulance door models.)

Have a friend that has one and he wouldn't give it up for anything.

Maybe when his drivetrain finally bites it, I can talk him into a Fummins conversion.
 
I remember those! They were awesome and yes I still see a few running around. Those who have them will not give them up, seems Ram could gain that same following pretty easily especially if/when they change over to the new body style. I love my Mega but you give me this as an option and I will jump on it! If I hit the lottery I will buy one of each and have a conversion done.
 
The Duramax Escalades and Yukon's are not all bad, pretty wicked actually but no where near as ''heavy duty''. Gone are the days that manufacturers think about advertising vehicles and building with 15 year+ ownership in mind. The EPA would be tickled pink at even the thought of putting non-mpg rated HD diesel's into the popular SUV market.

The old ‘Detroit Diesel’ 6.5L Tahoe/ Suburban are a rare find these days too
