Headlights

I did not get the night edition I went chrome, I'm looking to see the upgrade now. I'd like to have the HID type in it.

You wont find anything unless you did a retrofit your self, HID has been surpassed by LED so no one uses them really anymore

I like the output of HID better than LED. HiD seem to work in the mountains with heavy fog and leds just don't cut it at all

I do agree to a certain point these new age LEDs tend to work well in those situations but HID has a much better drop off range and better beam penetration in bad weather conditions…. I also prefer HID projectors it sucks that they are basically a thing of the past

So the Laramie package only adds led headlamp bulbs? All the others are regular halogen?

Every light on the Laramie is LED except the front turn indicators in the headlamp housing. I know, strange.

Makes total sense, just like everything else going on right now. LOL
My concern is output at night. The LED's on my Super Duty are like a gift from God when driving in the dark.

The LED reflector headlamps on the Laramie are nice. Gonna cut through the dark real well. Not as great as the LED projectors on the Longhorn/Limited, but way better than the halogen on the lower trims.

Does anyone have any experience with both Laramie and Limited headlight comparison? Is there really that much difference?

Yes, there is a huge difference between the 2 since I ask the question I went driving and found both trucks.. the limited lights are hands down 100% better. I will be swapping mine over when mine gets to me.

Awesome, thanks for the testing:):)
Do we know if it is a simple plug and play upgrade?

Better how so? Brighter? Better color? Wider view or tighter view? Longer throw?

Having owned both the Laramie with the LED reflector and now the Limited, the Limited has a much better cut off with the Projectors and I do not get Flashed by people thinking my High Beams are on. I would say the light is better focused down the road as well.

I didn't have any complaints about the LEDs on the Laramie - they are very good also. I never felt like I needed to upgrade then that's for sure.

@sstoner911
Good info. But are you saying people did flash you thinking your brights were on with the Laramie?
I did HID retrofits to my gmc and they are bright, but I don’t get flashed with headlights on. But if I turn on the HID fogs I get flashed all the time. Quite annoying, plus I’m not trying to be the a-hole in the first place.

Yes a couple people flashed me in the Laramie thinking my high beams were on. The light output on the LEDs were very good and I would not own a truck that doesn't have at least the LED setup

We are doing the swap on a friend's truck I'll post pictures when we get it done. But stock to stock they are all around better, longer throw, clean cut off line.

Dealers typically do not void entire warranties, they will flag certain upgrades they notice like deleted trucks etc...and when it's flagged it only alerts other dealers that if a problems comes up they can evaluate if the upgrade may contributed to the failure. At that point they may deny a warranty claim.

Headlights are not an issue for dealers or your warranty.
