Harman Kardon stereo

I agree the hk sounds good for a factory radio but there is always something better out there.. to me the highs are a lil harsh and the bass can be a lil boomy ,but everyone hears a lil different..
Frankly, the stock system is not actually bad... The Alpine system is very decent (better in a 1500) and enough for me and my 66 year old ears...

I thought the alpine sounded good in my last 2 2500s also.. I'm 55 and worked in a loud factory the last 27 years..
I'm sure chrysler uses speakers and amps they can get for the best price..

"Again, I think it's because they have to beam a heavily compressed signal to the radio head unit." So, there's no hope for Scotty getting beamed up? OK, I'm leaving now, no need to go off on me, I am fully congnizant of my issues and will move on...

I believe he was answering my discussion point when him and I were discussing if Sirius was HD or not.

So if I was to swap out speakers, would I do all of them? Or just the 6x9s in the doors?
And would you go with Focals or Klipsch?
I have Focals in the wifes truck and love the sound.
I've been a big fan of Klipsch since the 80s and finally got a system for the house. I see they now make car audio speakers

I wasn’t very impressed with my Harman Kardon system at first. Then I discovered the surround sound setting and turned it on. I really like it now

I’d like to see where you found Klipsch car audio. If memory serves I believe HK and klipsch are the same company. Funny you mentioned the 80s. I rock a set of 1983 Makintosh xr1204s in my living room. Saved from a barn.

I'm pretty sure Klipsch is still their own company. Not sure if their HQ is still in Hope Arkansas, but I believe their factory still is. Just do a Google search for Klipsch car audio and it will pop up.
Never was a big fan of Bose. Always thought the Klipsch always sounded better.

Just looked it up. Voxx owns Klipsch now. HK is independent.
Looks like Klipsch moved to Indiana, but the factory is still in Hope

Digging a little deeper. Klipsch joined up with Panasonic for their car audio stuff. This was fairly recently.

I'll swap my speakers for Rockford Fosgate Punch series. To my ear, they are about the best speaker on the market in the price range. Rockford Prime is import junk, run from any prime trash. Rockford Power is the high end, but I find Punch to a be perfect for my taste.

Well doing a little more research today, Klipsch and Panasonic have partnered up along with Dolby to manufacture car audio speakers. But they are not in production yet. They started this back in 2020. Guess it's just taking time to get them right for Klipsch to buy off on production.

HAH! you just gave yourself away as an old codger. No one now even knows what you are talking about. I used to be an audiophile back in the day had a top of the line Bose system when married that was very very nice... Then I got divorced and after trial and error, ended up with Harmon Kardon, old school when they were the only ones using TWO drivers for their system vs the one in virtually every other system available. So, I had the best rated mid range Harmon Kardon System but some Klipsch main speakers... I bought a Nakamichi multi-disc player and found it wanting and gave it to my dad. I don't even remember what I got to replace it but it wasn't cheap but it was nice. It is buried in storage somewhere...

So, you gave yourself away. AND target now has a section again for vinyl at outrageous prices and there is a record player where the turntable is suspended by magnetism to eliminate that distortion? I think they even have no needle laser "needles" now. I give up. All that stuff was for the younger me... The Alpine in my 2500 is great, not so sure about my ears now days, but it sounds so much better than anything I ever had in an automobile...

Take care...

HaHaHa,
yea I'm old. Working on my second retirement. Hopefully next summer when I turn 62, I can retire again.

Several years ago, wife and I were at Fryes looking for a new surround sound system as my little cheap one had kicked the bucket. We found a nice Yamaha receiver/processor that I liked. Asked about speakers and they guy walks us into the speaker room. All I see is klipsch speakers in the room and start drooling. Wife just looks at me kind of strange. So I explain that I liked their sound and had always wanted a set. About that time, the sales man has the system set up and turns them on. Wife just looks at me, jaw dropped, then says "get them" So I walked out with a full set of their new at the time titanium speaker system. front middle speaker, 2 front towers, 2 small rears and a powered sub. Site the system up in the living room with the new 70" TV and enjoyed the show. Sound and surround sound was amazing.
