Hi everyone,

Happy to have found this forum and looking forward to some useful tips for my '21 Tradesman Crew. Located in NJ.

Sold my '16 Jeep Sahara since I needed something a little bigger to tow a new travel trailer. The 2500 6.4 was my choice as I wasn't ready to drop big cash on the 3500. She should do just fine from what I've calculated. She has the usual 3.73's, tiny radio with some killer speakers, spay in bed liner and snow group package.

I've recently added the Ionic chrome side steps and Mopar floor mats. Tonneau cover coming and then some seat covers to protect against my kids.

That's about it. Will post some pics soon.

Thanks!

Jeff

Picking up a Heritage Glen 314BUD end of the month. She's a long one at 39' and hoping she'll tow OK.
It’ll tow just fine. I looked at the specs of the HG 314 and you have plenty of truck. I also have the Hemi and tow a Rockwood Signature 8329SB that’s 37‘ and weighs a little over 11k fully loaded. I tow up and down the East coast and Blue Ridge mountains with no problems. The Hemi will operate in a higher RPM range at times but it’ll get the job done. The engine and transmission work together to make it happen.

Unsolicited advice - sharing my expensive mistakes over the years. Have the dealer you’re buying it from take a pic of the sticker inside the door frame of the exact trailer you’re buying, they have to weigh them individually at the factory... guaranteed it’ll be heavier. It also won’t reflect the tongue weight which will be much heavier because they weigh them without propane tanks or batteries. Mine is supposed to have a tongue weight of 1130 lbs, actual weight loaded is around 1400 lbs. That’ll make a difference in the weight distribution hitch you should use. I was happy with my 12k lb Fastway E2 with trunion bar WDH from my previous trailer but the hitch was only rated for 1200 lbs on the tongue. I upgraded to an Equalizer 16k lb which gives me more peace of mind and I can feel the difference...also hear it. It‘s a little unnerving to hear metal on metal rubbing even though I grease the friction points. Worth it for the 4 points of sway control.

With a 39’ rig you are going to have a lot of surface area that will catch the wind...sail area. I would definitely invest in a top notch WDH.

Good luck and post some pics of the new trailer when you take delivery. Sounds like you’re going to have some fun this summer.

Nice looking TT btw. Also thanks for the advice on the WDH. Lots of them out there and looking into the Sway Pro at this time but will check around as well. My biggest concern really was the suspension on the RAM but sounds like it should do just fine after going through the towing section. I have the HD suspension and snow prep group. Really looking forward to the picking it up to see how it all handles. Thanks again for the advice.
