Grid Heater RELAY Recall (new)

Dealer called today. Scheduled mobile recall tech to come to my house and put into the new relay June 1. Will update after that.

Mobile tech installed mine today. It took him longer to put his tools away than to install the part. He had it installed in about 5 minutes.

Hearing a grid heater recall coming out this week 2-16-2023. Anyone else hear about this ? Anyone know what they will replace or change ?

Picture of relay cable disconnected from passenger side battery HAPP for those desiring to do so. Keep in mind that you'll need to double press the start button to prevent CEL and it could also still light a CEL if the heater is commanded and the PCM doesn't detect the current draw.

New relay: CSTP13A1AA (dealer only) recall part number. 68606435AB is the relay part number.

I have tired to get dealer support for my 2022 Ram 3500 for a couple of months. 3 different dealers told me the only way they could order part was for me to park my truck on their lot so they could order module. Ram Cares is totally worthless, offered no solution! Finally found a dealer 250 miles away that ordered module and I will have to take truck to them when module arrives. Only one dealer in 250 mile radius knows customer service.
 
Has anyone ever received any actual resolution to their issues / problems from "Ram Cares"? Just curious.
 
Got my letter today so I started phoning dealers and talked to 3 different dealers and got 3 different answers...one said Sept 12 2023, number 2 said they would order the part and then schedule me, and number 3 from the where I bought the truck told me as soon as 3 week when they can secure the part, what ever that means. I asked the guy why is it they are so much faster and he said they dont sell a lot of HD trucks so sticking to the 1 part per week is not a major concern for them.
This for a 2021
 
Update: Dealer phoned back and booked June 21....We will see how this one plays out.
 
Had the grid heater relay recall done today while I was at work. Mobile tech came to the house. Funny that tech didn’t reconnect the lead that I had disconnected, taped up, and zip tied out of the way. Will only take 3 mins to do it just surprised the tech didn’t do it for me. Anyway the recall is done. Waiting on the next recall to come out. :(

He couldn’t find a code and therefore a computer couldn’t tell tell him how to peel the tape off. :rolleyes:
 
Was told today after numerous calls about ordering the recall parts that I’m #68 on the list so who knows when I’ll actually get the relay and dipstick tube done.

Did you tell him it was disconnected? He probably wouldn’t of expected that, it’s not part of the recall info so I could see it staying how you had it.

No I did not. Had planned on being there when the recall was done but work had other ideas. No biggie. It’s done.

Had my relay done today. This dealer sells a lot of trucks and only gets one relay allocated a week. They receive 4 on a monthly basis. I don't need the dipstick done but they told me the dipstick is much harder to come by. RAM should be ashamed of themselves for putting the recall out there without sufficient parts available to complete the recall.

Yeah, how dare they. It would be much better if they just withhold the potential safety issue information from the truck owners until they have enough repair parts produced and stockpiled.
