Getting in the bed problem! Step options?

I have a 2020 3500 dually with 8ft bed. I traded in my F350 Diesel SRW for this new Ram. So far i love it, I have the HO in a Tradesman. My F350 sat high, I had 35 inch tires and the tailgate was heavy but it did include the Ford tailgate step which was great. This past weekend I went camping and to get in the bed can be a chore. Im still young enough to jump up and sit on tailgate but I am missing a step option. I have looked and I see some options that spring from the corner but I would like to know what anyone has done to help with this. What are you using and how do you like it? Thanks

I added the Mopar bed step and love it. I can walk forward into the bed of the truck, and walk forward out of the bed of the truck. The step extends back and out the side, so walking off of the tailgate, you look down and see the step to step onto and just fluidly walk from bed to step to ground. I like it better than the Ford tailgate step. It is faster to deploy and kick back away.

I use this to get into my '16 2500 and plan to do the same once the new truck arrives. I tried one of the kickout corner steps, but even extended it barely comes down to crotch level, so didn't provide me any benefit.

If you like carrying around stools like that, go to Harbor Freight and get their aluminum stool for less than half the cost.

I can see the draw for it, especially as you get more experienced in life. I'm 50 so the Ram accessory step works splendid, but if I were obese or 75 years... Or both... It might not work.

So it may depend on the OP and what his physical abilities still are. I hope to one day grow wise enough to need to carry around a stool

Excellent point. I won't hit 50 for a few more years, but if somehow I grow to be 8 foot tall by then, maybe the step will be a viable option. Sadly though, since when extended mine was still 34" from the ground, it wasn't a solution, as I'm only 6'4".

I am 57 and 6'1 and in good physical condition. I only weigh 220 and still hopping up on the tailgate is a pain that could be avoided. Then add the tailgate is muddy or wet from rain and it becomes a whole new pain. I don't want to carry a stool around but im not sure im in love with the factory solution.

I have the AMP Bedstep 75324-01A on my 2020 3500 and my 2016 1500. Because the 3500 tailgate is so high we made a bracket to lower the AMP step 1 1/4". That made it easier to engage the step and easier for my 86 year old 5'11" 220 lb body to climb in or out.

I entertained the 2 rung ladder that attaches to the tailgate and folds onto the tailgate when not in use. There's also a ladder that folds out down to the ground on the side of the tailgate and folds back up onto the tailgate. The ladder type is easier climbing in or out but I decided I would rather have the tailgate free of stuff so I stayed with the AMP step.
