My truck makes a sound , like a gears engaging hard , when I put it in drive. Is this normal? Sometimes it fells like someone bumped me from behind. It's like there is a slack in the gearbox.

Mine does the same thing. Like a loud hollow "thunk" noise. If I out the truck in neutral, engage the parking brake, and let off the brake, then I won't get the "thunk" noise when I shift to drive. I think the trans gets loaded up when the truck rolls a bit after shifting into Park...but these are just my assumptions.

Just want to add a video of the noise. Yes still makes that sound.

You need to firmly hold your foot on the brake when placing the vehicle into Drive. If you hold it lightly you will feel the clunk you describe and the vehicle will lurch forward or backwards.

I will try that. But I always press hard on the brake before I do that.

Do you park on an incline or decline? If so, when you are parking before placing the vehicle in Park engage your parking brake. This will keep the weight of the vehicle on the "brakes" vs. the transmission. When its on the transmission you will feel a clunk when shifting out of park.

I park on a incline. Will try with the parking brake engaged before I place it in parking gear

It seems it did the trick. Tried it twice and no noise.

Okay. So I got used to the parking brake but it seems it's still making that noise (check the video) it also happens when I park on level ground. But not always
