Did that for years when building my '63.
Store manager told his people to "let me go behind the counter and look thru the books. I'd give them the part number they needed to order."

Same with my 67 Jeepster halfcab. It had a Buick 350 V8 in it, axles from a 73 Jeepster, GMC truck steering, etc...all on top of the confusing things Jeep used to do with parts.
