Pa had a wooden railroad tie front bumper on his 52 Chevy pickup. Got so drunk one night he fell out the driver door going (slow speed) around a corner and it smashed into a building. He dusted himself off and drove it home no worse for the wear.

One must remember that it is Boomers (46-64)-GenX ('65-80) that are mostly the parents of Millennials ('81-'96) and Gen Z (97-2010).
Therefore, if there is a failure, it is on the majority of us in here as the parents to not have taught those children the finer points of stick shifts and proper penmanship.
I learned from my parents....How else are we expecting them to learn other than we teach them?

So I take offence to that meme as a personal attack on my generation.

I was taught Cursive in school, not by my parents.

I was taught how to work on a car in school as well, along with how to work with metal, wood and plastic.

But I learned how to drive a stick shift from my Mom's friend.

So have the parents failed? Or the school system?

I was taught valuable life lessons from school teachers and from my parents…most lessons involved learning
when to duck to avoid getting hit up side the head and most importantly when to shut my yap to avoid getting hit a second time. I was born in 1959 so getting a drum stick smack on the head was totally acceptable

I learned cursive in school but my great grandfather was an old vet who wrote in all caps and I thought he was the coolest person so I wrote like him.
