2020 3500 Aisin the tranny seems to lack behind, sometimes when accelerating like getting on the interstate the trans takes a second or two to engage. Maybe I'm not explaining the issue quite right, it seems like it's not in gear for a second or two. Also seems to be worse when the tranny is cold. Anybody else experiencing anything like this? Thanks Norwood

Sounds almost like "dead pedal" that has been in these trucks for years. Are you hitting the throttle aggressively? Try rolling in to it a little slower and smoother and see if it still does it. Quick and sudden throttle movements will cause the dead pedal feel (torque management kicking in).

Yes does it when accelerating hard, and I have started easing up on my take offs on entrance ramps. Sometimes its a little scary when you hit the gas and nothing happens. So this is normal on the Aisin?

It's normal for all late model cummins. Once you get used to it you just learn to drive around it. No sudden on-off-on or quick throttle movements etc. smooth and steady.

Manualy down shift then mash the throttle sorta helps tq management….

Thanks, thought the tranny was going to lay down with 9000 miles Thanks for the help, took a load off my mind

Mine shifts better when it reaches operating temperature but has the normal defuel between shifts.
Maybe someday a tune will be available

Thanks again for all the responses, I feel a lot better about towing a long distance now

Defueling protects the trans….

^^^This^^^ You can't just throw all that torque at a trans all at once and expect it to survive. Why do you think they got rid of the manual trans? Couldn't handle the power anymore. Look at the power ratings for the years they still had it. Pretty much flat-lined with the manual trans while the auto kept gaining more power year after year until they just discontinued the manual.

Yup almost any additional power on the late g56 Required an upgrade to a dual or triple disk clutch as the OEM would start slipping

I have a question in regards to the 68RFE in a 2021 6.7. just under 5k miles. Was stuck in stop and go by a school took like 20 minutes to get past it but the truck was shifting from 1st to 2nd hard like scared me hard, like I was getting rear ended by another car. It was basically no gas pedal up shifts as I was slow rolling and it would shift. Never experienced it otherwise but never really been in that senerio. After that for the next few days it was still rough but now only does it every so often. If im under throttle it dosent seem to do it, but I can still get it to shift like a cinder block if im slow rolling under now pedal. I wonder if it just learned a bad shift. Going to dealer next week for the recall and told them to maybe do a trans relearn
