I have read many posts where people got their front windshield tinted; however, I was just in to get my windows tinted and the company denoted the process of installing the tint could short out a board that is under the dash ('22 Limited 2500). Has anyone actually had this happen? Is there an exposed board under the dash that can get wet from front window tinting?

I told them not to install until I can do more research on that.

Thank you all very much for the wealth of knowledge and sharing this community has.

If the tint shop is worth a **** they put micofibers across the dash to catch anything. My Audi has all kinds of stuff up there HUD/camera/ radar/ water sensors etc. No problems what so ever, it's all about who installs it.

I got mine done a few weeks ago and have not had any issues. The shop i went to used a rope style microfiber absorber. They gave me a disclaimer like any shop should. It's mainly a CYA on their part. Is it possible it could damage your truck, yes. Is it likely, not if you got to a reputable shop.

I've seen reports that some installers will also go up into the dash above the driver knee bolster and put microfiber towels in that area under the dash to catch any water.

It IS possible to smoke the BCM and there have been reports of damage caused by shoddy installers.

Yes it has happened. I’ve done 3 trucks, and have never had an issue

like others i was warned on my 19. went with a top notch 3m certified shop that gave me warranties and what not with my tint. i would be worried if it was a stereos and tint type of place.
