Front valance necessary?

Hi all!

Just picked up a ‘22 2500 Bighorn hemi 6.4 and I can’t take my eyes off of her. There’s a few things visually I’m wanting to address.

I would like to remove the crappy misshapen plastic front valance from the underside of the front bumper and am wondering if it is necessary for me to replace it with an ‘intercooler guard skid plate’? Obviously there is no intercooler to protect on this truck but wondering if whatever is behind and above also needs the protection? Everything else seems pretty far up and back enough that the protection at that angle wouldn’t make a difference but want to check if anyone has any advice on it.

Thanks for your patience with me. I’m a newb and this is my first post!

Welcome aboard. We like pics!

Many have removed the front valance without any issue. I don’t find it bothersome but curious to see before and after pics/opinions. Good luck with the new truck.

No issue removing it. Mine is slotted to fit my Fisher plow mounts. I don't mind the look and figure it might keep a bit of road grime off the lower engine compartment, but if I snag it on something I'd likely just remove it.

I have scraped the ground several times, with my front spoiler. Would be interested in removing it (however, I do have an intercooler, since I have the Cummins). Please post photos!

Mine is the same it makes the mounts less obvious with it on plus I have the block heater setup in it for ease of plugging in with my plow on.

I kept mine due to aero though it is basically negligible... But also use it for my block heater, so unless I wanna relocate it, it'll prolly just stay.

Thanks everyone that’s all great info! I think I’ll like the look without it. The skid plates look great too but still deciding on how stock id like to keep the truck before I invest in something that’s only compatible with stock. there’s also something about the look of more clearance that appeals to me visually anyway.

Here’s some photos I’ve taken. She’s an all stock bighorn chrome package. Toying with the idea of finding body color grille surround but leaving the chrome bumper. never quite see that combo out there so curious how that might look. Call me crazy but I kind of like a classic chrome bumper.

Thanks for your replies ill update how it goes !

Take the compatibility brackets off if you do take it off as those look silly and only 2 bolts each

I have never seen the Hemi Badge in that Location. On the Door.
Haha I was waiting to see if anyone would say anything!! It was one of the first things i noticed about the truck and had mentioned to the salesman who was either new or played it dumb (this was a ram dealer). I absolutely plan on removing those badges. They are not on there as tight as the RAM lettering and have quite obviously been moved there. I have a theory that when I take them off I will find a gnarly ding or chip. The truck was a daily rental in its previous life so who knows. It is very well maintained though and surprisingly mint so I know it hasnt been treated too badly. :)

I wonder if one could see a difference in MPG with it off vs on?
Most people are getting 37 mpg with the 6.4 once the valence is removed. :)

I'm going to say nobody could prove they noticed a mpg difference on these trucks. Kind of like changing it from a brick passing through air to a brick with a small chip in the edge passing through air.

I also wonder if the lack of the negative pressure area under the engine would increase engine temperature at all?
