Front end wheel movement

I am wondering if anyone can verify that there should be movement in the front end if you push on your tire towards the engine at the 12 o clock position. I heard a low growl noise when turning left. Jacked the truck up and was checking ball joints, u joints and the bearing. I noticed play when I pushed on the 12 o clock position but no play in the 3 and 9 o'clock position. I suspected wheel bearing was going bad. Took it to the dealership and they said that everything was good and after I showed them what I was talking about, they claim thats normal but anything I have found states there should be no movement.

That sounds bad to me
Me to. They showed me another truck that had the same play and said that there is some play calculated into the independent front suspension. I'm hoping someone that works on them for a living can give knowledge into it. Even my mechanic said it sounds like the bearing could be going bad.

Only at 12 would indicate upper balljoint or just the way the joint and a arm move when unloaded it could be normal i have just never seen a new 2wd if it was a bearing you would have play everywhere on the clock lol

Ok its 4wd as well. I know there is a tolerance for ball joint play but it's minimal play.

There is a lot of play in the ball joints by design. It has to be pretty bad for it to be outside of their (ram) specs. You'll get a lot of people telling you the ball joints are bad but if the dealer measures them they will still be in spec.

Ok. Ya what had me worried is that I hear a growl when turning left. And when I checked ball joints and u joints I didn't see any play in them so I went to the play being in the bearing. But the dealer said everything was good and to spec.

If they told you that you had an IFS on an HD truck with 4WD, then clearly they don't know what they're talking about.

No I own a 19 ram 2500 with the 6.7. My dealership tries getting out of warranty work so they will lie. I had the tires balanced and seems to help but haven't really heard a growl coming from it. And unfortunately we only have one certified dealer through ram cares so I just need to find the time to get it into my mechanic I used for my other trucks to see what's going on

Umm.. yeah, you have a unicorn my friend. The first Ram 2500 I've seen with an IFS, unless you actually have a GM truck and accidentally came to the wrong forum

I would suggest a different dealer.

Wait, what?

RAM HD 4x4 trucks are solid front axle, not IFS.

Who said IFS, you or the dealer?
