Found really solid 4500/5500 off road tires

<div class="bbWrapper">I’ve owned F-450/550 and now Ram 5500 type trucks for about 25 years now and have always found the selections of off-road tires to be almost non-existent. About a year ago I found these Continental HDR “Terra” in a 225/70 R19.5. They are crazy expensive retailing about $450/each. Found a set of (6) on FBM for about $350/each and gave them a try.<br /> I am really impressed. They are not only excellent off road, but they are very solid while towing heavy weight AND they are not overly noisy. I got about 15,000 miles on them now, and I just purchased another set of (6) for about $2,300. They are stacked in my garage ready to install once this first set wears-out.<br /> For an very aggressive tire, they handle really well, are lasting about as long as I could hope for-about 18,000 miles would be my estimate. That’s not a lot compared to an AT tire, but I do a lot of off road work and so the trade off is a bargain for me. Anyway, I highly recommend them. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <a href="https://hdrams.com/forum/attachments/1772198393618-jpeg.94027/" target="_blank"><img src="https://hdrams.com/forum/data/attachments/94/94035-a4149db7a9f3fce9383cc167b68e2c87.jpg?hash=bt6zbS_WLo" class="bbImage " style="" alt="1772198393618.jpeg" title="1772198393618.jpeg" width="150" height="200" loading="lazy" /></a></div>

I used to run Goodyear’s attempt at an off road tire and it was noisier than these Continentals.<br /> <br /> <a href="https://hdrams.com/forum/attachments/1772284531540-jpeg.94058/" target="_blank"><img src="https://hdrams.com/forum/data/attachments/94/94066-cc2bb39f82488ea7c647d9ec1846bd64.jpg?hash=DCIZPFmJHB" class="bbImage " style="" alt="1772284531540.jpeg" title="1772284531540.jpeg" width="200" height="150" loading="lazy" /></a><br /> <br /> <blockquote data-attributes="member: 8398" data-quote="whitexc" data-source="post: 370023" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> <a href="/forum/goto/post?id=370023" class="bbCodeBlock-sourceJump" rel="nofollow" data-xf-click="attribution" data-content-selector="#post-370023">whitexc said:</a> </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> Don’t you have the truck that is down, waiting on a part? <div class="bbWrapper">Ran a set of those on a work rig one time. Hard to beat the look.<br /> <br /> Off road performance was good, but they wore terribly regardless of rotation. Went back to the Goodyear G622 after.<br /> <br /> 450 a tire is a little spendy, but sadly not far off of what most tires cost now a days.</div>

Mine are wearing about what I would expect for an open shoulder off-road tire.<br /> I will probably remove them at about 18,000 miles and sell them for $500 on FBM, before they are completely worn out.<br /> My guess is they would run 20,000.<br /> I rotated them 2 times. They are wearing very evenly. My truck’s alignment must be very good.<br /> <br /> I found the Goodyear 622’s I ran for the last 10 years to do almost nothing very well. They didn’t get good off road traction, they didn’t last very long, and when they were down to less than 50% tread, were noisier than the Continental Terras.<br /> <br /> <a href="https://hdrams.com/forum/attachments/1772286909074-jpeg.94060/" target="_blank"><img src="https://hdrams.com/forum/data/attachments/94/94068-36c248ffc7fee82fff875ce4001627e5.jpg?hash=9offvXvyQ6" class="bbImage " style="" alt="1772286909074.jpeg" title="1772286909074.jpeg" width="200" height="150" loading="lazy" /></a></div>
