I read about Ford adding load cells to the 2021 F series trucks. Great idea. Hopefully when one badge does it the others will follow. The way Ford built this in, with the interior display and a feature in the taillights to indicate load capacity is really smart. I have seen load cell add-ons for commercial trucks that tie in with the air suspension, and I looked at another build-your-own scale kit that I sketched out adding to my livestock trailer but that would only tell me how much I loaded, not how much the truck is carrying as payload. I have also looked at systems that tie in with hitches, which is great for towing but won’t do much for you when you are loading the bed of your truck.

Sorry about the accident. Well, the computer says here that you were warned you were exceeding your weight limits so..............

Probably wouldn't make much of a difference anyway, I guess. Tin hat aside, I think it is kinda cool...maybe
 
I like my truck because it doesn’t warn me about anything. It lets me drive and doesn’t bother me.

the fords already park for you. They back up trailers for you and now you just load them until it beeps at you. Wish it would cook for me.

Backing up my trailer is a point of pride but I'd sure be happy having the truck do some of the driving for me while I catch up on paperwork, phone calls, and other tasks. The integrated scale is more than a convenience, it would allow me to load my trailer knowing how much weight I am putting on the truck. My 3500 is DRW so I'm not necessarily worried about overloading the truck but if I know how much I am putting on the hitch point against what I estimate the total load weight to be, I can balance out the trailer for better driving/towing characteristics.
 
Ford charges like $600 for that option I paid $100 for haul gauge, I can move from truck to truck does same things. That said I used like twice after I played with it the first week I had it.

did you find the Haul Gauge to be accurate? They are $200 now but that still seems like a good deal

The haul gauge is now rebranded as the curt better weight, which is $99 on Amazon. I’ve been using it for about 2 years, and I’ve only checked it once against a cat scale, and the haul gauge was reporting 120 lbs heavier than scale.

Thanks, I am going to buy one and try it on my next trip
 
It was very accurate on the 1500 on my 3500 I installed aircells (Timbrens/Sumos), so the truck wouldn’t squat as much with the 5th wheel. I really want to try in my 2021 but I keep forgetting when I get concrete the last few weeks. 65 bags the first trip and 42 the second. It would be easy to check accuracy. That said when I thought I was getting my Ram hitch the other day ( wrong hitch still waiting) It was made by Curt the company that now own BetterWeigh so who knows
