Hi there, I have this issue on a 2019 Ram Bighorn 2500 HD 4X4 6.7L where sometimes the truck doesn't recognize the FOB and I can't start the truck, but the Fob will lock/unlock the doors. When I leave the truck running and step out to open the gate/garage on the display it will say that the Fob left the vehicle and to press the left arrow to reset, but not all the time as it should. If anybody have any suggestions/Tips or a solution other than taking the truck to the dealership please share. P.s , I bought the truck used. I've replaced the battery and used my other Fob, but it still does it occasionally.

Last sentence a bit vague. Do BOTH fobs malfunction or only one? Cell phones can mess these up sometimes. I wear my phone and fob on opposite sides.

That's the thing, I'm not sure if the Fob is malfunctioning or the unit that the Fob communicate with (somewhere in the truck), my cell phone is not on me when I stats the truck, its in a cradle on the dashboard. When it happens I usually press the unlock button and that's seems to work. As for the other Fob I will try it again a few times and see since its new. Thanks for the info

I don't recall if it was year specific, but I believe there was a TSB for a flash update for the RF module to fix this issue.

My 19 is developing same issue. Getting worse. It always unlocks the doors from a long distance so I doubt it's the battery.

My issue was not exactly the same as the original poster and he already changed the battery anyway, but.... One of my FOBs was acting up. Not working to let me start the truck, etc. It still unlocked the doors from far away though so I figured the batteries must be good. After unsuccessful troubleshooting, I finally just changed the battery and that fixed it. Been several months now and still good. So since it easy to try, I would always put in a new battery first to see if that helps.

Not sure how to find out. Would the dealership would know?

The one I was thinking of is a different issue and covered 2020-2021.

I probably have to push the fob to the button at least 10 times a week. Very annoying.

Update, OK, after whole week with the new Fob the truck started every time so I decided to go and try to change the battery on the old Fob again 3 times( Its a 4 pack) with no luck, I didn't give up and bought a new pack of batteries and the Fob works perfectly. I'm assuming that the battery pack I had at home was dead/almost dead batteries. Problem solved. Thank you all for the info.

I had the same issue with the fob that came with the tradesman. new batteries didn't resolve. when I added auto start and tailgate release with the 5 button fob, never had the issue since.
