Alright guys I need some inspiration. I’ve got a D cell maglite I’d like to mount somewhere in the cab accessible from the drivers seat but don’t know where. Anyone figure it out? I’ve got a set of Maglite mounts for it but am neither tied to the maglite or their mounts if there are better (cooler) options out there too.

My truck has the center console BTW

Kind of expensive if you only plan on mounting a flashlight, but worth if if you mount other things.

Made by nhoverland, great quality and customer service IMHO.

I put a pair of Greyman Tactical seat back RMP panels in mine. Mounted the flashlight to that. Mine is on the back of the Drivers seat but you could mount to the passenger side no problem.
Not the least expensive option but very flexible storage solutions.

As said before, I'd 100% be upgrading the flashlight before spending any money trying to mount a maglight. 25 years ago the maglight was top dog, but things have moved on and you can get a far better light with longer battery life, for much much less. Streamlight and surefire are my go to.

Another vote for smaller, newer technology flash light. The two streamlight’s I have are insane compared to the old mag lights I have. I still keep a mag light in the truck, it’s tucked in a door Pocket as a loaner if someone needs it.

For a truck flashlight even a cheapo Harbor Freight giveaway is going to out perform an old Maglite D cell in everything except the beatdown stick department.

You may want to consider getting one with a magnet in the base, pretty handy to stick to things when you are dealing with under hood or fender stuff on a dark road at 2am. A proper head light is even better.

I use an old battered to hell but still super bright Surefire L4 for my daily pre-flights. When the switch finally broke they sent a no questions asked, free of charge replacement rear housing from a newer model as mine is discontinued. If this one ever dies I will likely be replacing it with another Surefire.

I second the NHOverland. As it goes to flashlights, I upgraded my streamlight I used for years at work with this new generation light. This light is ridiculously bright.....and would be able to be mounted on the NHOverland front seat gear panel. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FVN41XP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Definitely given me a lot to think about here. It feels so wrong to retire my old d cell beat stick!!!

Although that NH Overland mount is sure sexy. Rechargeable USB small lights with triple the output are also quite sexy.

Also been thinking about the weak mounts for the giant d cell flashlight and it becoming a projectile in an accident… I think I’m convinced.

Once again thank you all!

I just got a chance to meetup with the owner of @NHOverland this past weekend at a local "overland" meetup. I was initially a little concerned that his mount would be too much in the way, but he let me hop in his rig and check it out and I've gotta say I was excited to see that it wasn't an issue at all. You could honestly probably fit a small fire extinguisher there and be ok, although I've not tried and depending on how you like to position your legs on longer trips it may be a no go. Had plenty of space for keeping some things close but out of the way.

I’ve had a fire extinguisher mounted in that exact spot on another brand mount for over a year now and I will say it has never interfered with my driving.

Was originally looking at that same brands mount for the same reason. The thing I like about NHoverlands mount is that it keeps the factory plastic cover there, which is nice.

Yea, I had to take off the plastic seat cover, but the plus was it gave me a nice spot to easily access my first aid kit. It was a trade off I could live with although I may use NHOverlands on my passenger side.
