I finally took the truck into the "stealership" to get the first oil change and fuel filters replaced. On previous trucks I have done all this work myself, however due to relocation, I have not been able to do any of my own maintenance. I look forward later this year to get back to a place where I can start working on the truck again!

I found a coupon for an oil change with synthetic oil for $109.95! That seemed pretty steep to me, however I needed to get it done. The shocker for me was the two fuel filters! The total, including labor was $349.99! Does this seem right? On my old Duramax the filter was about $20 (2003 Duramax).

Here is what they charged me for: Filter Kit: Fuel/Water Separator - $72.85, Fuel Filter - $115, DFC with Lubricity - $19.19, and labor of $142.95. Totaling $349.99.

I also made the mistake of having them replace the engine air filter and the cabin filter (Total of $100 for parts and labor). I won't be doing that again either as I can change them in the future.

Can someone please tell me if this is reasonable?

So all this is doable for the mechanically inclined? Haven’t even ordered my truck yet but planning ahead. And I guess YouTube will be my best friend for this.

You could definitely save some money doing it yourself. Geno's Garage charges $122.95 for the 2 fuel filters.

It's definitely "doable" if you have a little bit of mechanical inclination.

Its 590$ to have it done here in canada at my dealer or i do it myself for 300$ in materials

i got a quote for 480 to do my fuel filters last time i was there. just bought the filters and did it myself. fuel/water sep can be messy due to gravity and you may need to buy an extension and swivel to get a socket on the on engine filter, but it's seriously less than an hour job and i'm no mechanic by a long shot.

We moved across the country last year and had to leave the truck on the West Coast all winter. We plan to drive it to our new home in Tennessee. I have ZERO tools in Oregon so I had to take it to the dealer. Hopefully this will be the last time for routine maintenance.

Thanks for the feedback!

I saw, somewhere in here, where someone changed out the rear fuel filter/water separator for something that was more user friendly for changing/replacement than the OEM setup.

I changed out my fuel filters yesterday and I used the Diesly brand of filters through Amazon since there is a shortage with Mopar. The caps require some strength to loosen but, overall, not hard to do. For oil changes, make sure you buy a fumoto valve on Amazon. It’s a must have if you’re doing your own oil changes.

I've installed a Fumoto valve on just about every vehicle I have owned! They are awesome! Particularly if you want to do any oil testing.

Sounds about right. I used to take my dads 2015 Cummins in for service while he was out of town. $300 for fuel filter service. Oil changes were $150 I think? Don’t even get me started on replacing the double batteries
