Wanted to post an update here as I am in the middle of a 2k mile road trip in the new truck. I am unloaded/not towing on this trip but after the first 1500 miles I love the truck more than the day I picked it up. A few things since my initial write up:
- The driver seat feels like its starting to soften, maybe its just in my head but I actually find the seats really supportive. I just spent 15 hours driving and my back never tightened which is rare for me after extending periods of driving
- MPGs have been solid. 1st tank was mixed highway driving and I hand calced it to 19.7. On the remainder of the trip I am averaging about 18.5 all freeway driving between 75 and 85 MPH. Big shocker here but if you drive conservatively (dont hammer it off the line and keep it around 77 on the freeway) you can easily average 19.5+ MPG on flat highways. The only time I was dipping below that was when I was going 85+ or climbing hills.
- The Uconnect system completely shut down while I was driving and reset itself once but other than that I haven't had any issues.
- The stock tires are AWFUL, especially in the snow. I live in Lake Tahoe and we got about 6 inches last week. I grew up in the area and have been driving in the snow for 15+ years at this point and these are the worst tires Ive ever experienced in the snow.
- From the point above - I am between KO2s and AT3s for new tires this fall - anyone have experience with either and/or feel strongly? I tow about 10k all summer long and then am unloaded all winter.
- Is a new thuren/carli sway bar worth it? I dont find the ride to be nearly as bad as I was expecting after reading everyone else thoughts on here.
- I am a huge fan of the remote start functionality on the Ram app. I live where its cold and use it all the time to warm the truck up before I leave. However, I REALLY wish I could set climate controls from the app after starting it. It seems like a layup feature that should be included in something like that. Idk if i'll pay the $70 for the sub to just be able to remote start it.
Overall, I love the truck and (politics aside) will probably never go back to a gas truck. This thing is a HOG and I have zero regrets.
