Can someone tell me the difference and why? This is the same tire/wheel as when purchased and 9 months later. Hint: it’s not about being clean or dirty, or old or new.

The chrome cap off the nut whats the issue it happens to every brand…
 
This is the way the Truck came home after having the Aisin transmission repaired. ALL four wheels are missing the cap on the locking lug nut. The Dealership that worked on the truck is trying to convince me there are no “caps” for that locking lug. I sent them those two pics and they say they can’t tell the difference. The pictures prove it.

(All correspondence has been through text message so far). Tomorrow I will call.

can anybody explain why all four would be gone? Theft? Or maybe they just fall off?
 
Mine came new the same as the picture on the right. NOT like the one on the left. Which is with a locking nut

Mine came the same as on the left but don’t have a locking nut.
 
Those are both mine. The same vehicle. Nothing ever done to the wheels or tires. The pic without the lock (on the left) is the truck brand new. The one with the lock (on the right) was taken last week.

what is the explanation? This is not a riddle. Lol! It’s a serious question.

if there are no caps, then explain the pic on the left.
 
At some point one lug nut was replaced with a locking nut. AFAIK there is not option for a factory locking lug nut.

Here in Ontario pretty much every car, truck comes with one lock nut per wheel and they give you the key for it with your manual. My Ram came with them and my 2017 1500, pathfinder, Altima etc etc.
 
That might be getting done by the dealers. But from your perspective it is how you received it. I don’t think any leave Mexico with a locking lug, but I don’t know first hand of course.

Take better pictures. Luckily y’all have somewhat deciphered the captcha photos posted and I know what’s going on now lol

I would replace all the lug nuts with spline drives and call it done. I don’t want one locking lug on each wheel it’s a pain and looks bad.

The vehicle did not mention locking hubs on the equipment list and I never ordered them. The truck has never been to a tire shop and NO I was not given a key for the lugs. I’m about to tear my truck apart looking for it. Crap!

I phoned 3 dealers Ram, Nissan, and Ford. All in the North West Toronto area out of curiosity to find out whats going on as far as where these locks come from and who puts them on.
All 3 said it is included at time of PDI and they were not sure if it was country wide or isolated to the Toronto area. One guy told me that if steel rims were involved they would not put the locks on.
The package that came with the Ram had the key and the lugs they took off to install the locks had warranty paper work in it which has a company name of "MCGARD" Orchard Park NY

Between the first picture and the second had you taken it in to a dealer for any work the required the tires to be taken off? If so maybe at that time the lug was replaced? and do all four tires have a locking lug now?

No work on the wheels or tires nor anything that might have called for their removal. Yes, all four wheels have locking lugs.

The Dealership that repaired my Aisin transmission recently denies putting the lugs on. I am currently awaiting a call back from the Dealership where I bought the vehicle to see if they did it. They installed a gooseneck hitch in the truck before I took delivery. It’s looking like they must have also installed the locking lugs too, AFTER they sent me the video that shows no lugs, but no confirmation yet. Just seems to be the only logical answer though (meaning I didn’t notice the lugs for almost a full year). *Moron*
