Extended warranty questions

I can not see any warranty covering water in fuel. Warranty is to cover defective components, not outside forces that damage items. That just seems unrealistic to expect a warranty to even consider covering. But I would hope that they test fuel to determine water content, or take photos of the water bubble at the bottom of the tank to submit as proof. I am a believer in the OEM Mopar Max Care service contracts, I have not had issues with coverage of failures that were actually early part failures.

I am not sure anyone was proposing that the warranty cover it, at least I wasn't. I don't trust most dealers out there. The Ram dealer I am dealing with seems to be very transparent. It's 100 miles away and that's why I opted to go that far because the locals in the big city I was trying to deal with didn't give me the warm fuzzy feeling at all. The guys I am dealing now with are based in a rural ag-based small city and they seem to understand the concept of taking care of the customer very well. Considering the potential for shady dealings I was asking the question and if it did happen how easy is it to transfer the responsibility to the responsible party which in this case would be the gas station. I don't think the water in the fuel warning light will light up immediately after a bad fill.

My Service Manager showed me the fuel sample capsule provide by FCA. He has been instructed that any truck that arrives with a blown pump cannot be touched until that fuel capsule is filled with a sample from the truck in question, returned to FCA and analyzed. Unless one has a negligent dealer, they do have a prescribed and certified process.

This is gold!

Thanks for that info and it's very reassuring to know RAM has a procedure in place for these situations.

One additional point I would make is that you're talking 2021 which means the HPP is an CP-ISB21S3 (aka CP3) which has a nearly immeasurable failure rate.

If it does fail, it's only going to take out the pump.

Yeah, this is what I heard. Still, and I know better, but reading the horror stories online made me question if I made the right choice to go with a Diesel with all the EPA equipment. I regularly tow 19k so I really didn't have a choice but back in the day the diesel engine on Nissan patrol I had was absolutely bulletproof. The wheel bearings were horrible plus a few other issues but that truck did a stupid amount of miles and they were very hard miles. Was a daily use vehicle/farm truck and we showed it no mercy.

I chose the Max Care Mopar warranty. Priced it from Zeigler's and my dealer matched the quote, and discounted another $100.
I am thinking of getting one of those too through Zeigler. Is there anything in it that says you have to keep it maintained by the dealer or anything? Or can you just keep your receipts from oil changes, etc.?

The dealer I just picked up my truck from, and my local dealer, both don't sell the Mopar warranties? Been looking online, anyone have any recommendations?

Several to choose from... thought no idea why they don't, other than to get more money through a 3rd party vendor.

This link is to Ziegler. Use discount code PAYINFULL.

It has been discussed more than few times on this forum they are a good company to deal with and use their pricing to help to negotiate with your dealer, if you’re not in the situation as @fourbybud
