EPA Targeting EZ Lynk

I'll just say this. If you don't think big brother is watching and documenting popular online forums, you're only fooling yourself.
  • Gun forum members espousing breaking unconstitutional laws (magazine restrictions, etc.) CHECK
  • Diesel truck enthusiasts bragging about deletes. CHECK
  • Hollywood and politician pedophiles. Well, maybe not so much checked, probably only on the dark web.

True, but the forum they were watching was the forum hosted by EZLynk....there is no money in going after you and me...

I never, ever thought I'd live to see the day that we lose the freedom to worship, act and speak freely. Here we are worrying about what we say or have said - a sad day for sure.

Hyperbole much?

Will we need to buy these on the dark web now? Gonna need to shell out some BTC. And find a double-secret programming club. I would already have one if it wasn't for a potential future CP4 warranty issue. Weak excuse maybe but.............

Wait until you have to do a UBC to buy one second hand. You know, to plug the truck show loophole.

There are much more pressing issues for motor sports enthusiasts

For what it is worth, I modified a Saleen Mustang built race, although never got a chance to, less than 1000 miles on the build and been sat in storage as I have no time any more and it was a SEMA car in 2010. Great car, was driven on streets less than 100 miles a year and now almost no choice but to break it up, impossible to smog in CA and most are weary of modified vehicles (as would I be)
Yet this car runs cleaner than many on the street as it was so well tuned...

I've been building ls based fast cars for years. we always make sure there is a clean tune. always pass emissions. we'll see how this goes, but this does seem like the biggest stiffy the epa has had to date. especially after reading the retort to sema response.

There was rumors a couple years back of Environment Canada {same as EPA} doing the same with regards to banning leaded race fuels, never happened

They cant go after customers and ezlink cant be held liable as they are just a platform to use tunes the people making the non emission tunes can be liable thats about it as ezlink does not make any tunes from my understanding....
By their definition, ezlynk made an emission defeat device. Whether it's used for tuning only or for disabling the emission components is irrelevant.

No they did not they made a device that can interact with the ecm also it says for off road or race use only in every product description i have ever seen for it so they are off the hook

be interesting to see how all the "legalese" iterates on those very definitions.

Correct, they made device that can interract with the ecm, including changing ecm programming. It is a tool that is able to disable emissions and by their definition it is a emission defeat device.
You can disagree with my comment but your argument will not hold up if it went to court. And I'm all against the EPA ********, just stating the facts.

P.S. Off-road / race, doesn't mean **** these days.
It means they are not liable if used on the road where epa has control trust me ezlink wont have any issue or they may pay a small fine im sure they have a good team of lawyers in their pockets

Man, there is some crazy theorizing going on in this forum. I want to comment on two specific points:
  1. Regarding tuning and deletes; has the federal gov ever come for an individual for being in violation of the CAA? How many companies have been sued or shut down due to selling deletes or delete hardware? I've never once seen a post of an individual reporting that they were being sued by the feds. Local enforcement does happen, although seems to be rare.
  2. Talking about firearms and legality; while I'm no cool guy I consider myself one rung down from subject matter expert and I've never heard of any single person getting tagged by the feds outside of manufacture of nfa items (machine guns and suppressors mostly). Pistol braces went back and forth for a while but I never saw a single report of someone being hit with a lawsuit or worse during the time. Certain states have come to outlaw standard capacity mags (often incorrectly referred to as high capacity) however if the state has instituted a grandfathered clause then it's impossible to tell if the mag was owned by the person prior to the law being passed, especially since most magazines don't have a manufacture date and are easily acquired.
Now do as you all wish with whatever information you think prudent. That said, what the federal gov could do and what they have done or will do are often not the same things. If you would like to argue any points I ask you to point to cases, not hearsay, where the feds have come in on an individual. I don't have to prove the opposite, you have to prove your argument.
