Engine Overspeed/Overrev Possible?

Backstory: was at a drive-thru and must have bumped the gear limit - button which locked me in 1st. Pulled onto the road and didn’t realize I was locked in 1st until I noticed no shift and looked down and was around 3200-3400rpm. I assume this is the rev limit.

I checked the manual and it appears the Hemis/8-speeds will shift beyond the gear limit to prevent engine overspeed whereas the manual does not state this for the CTDs/6-speeds.

My question: is it possible to overspeed/rev an auto CTD? What would the truck do if you were loaded, freeway speeds, and hit the gear - too many times?

Your fine. You can do tunes that raise the rev limit to 5000 RPM for sled pulling... they don't fall apart sled pulling so you'll be just fine at 3400.
