Just some thoughts:I've been thinking about doing the Goose Gear 100% rear seat delete. I really want the extra room in the cab, and a flat loading floor (my truck is a Tradesman trim, which does not have the pop-up flat floor). But it will be a bit of a bummer to lose the second row of seating, even if I don't use it for humans very often. On the fence. Do you have any other thoughts on the Goose Gear 60% delete?
- doing the 60% only means I still have 1 back seat, so it’s not full send.
- while the install wasn’t very difficult or time consuming (maybe 30 minutes, including some adjustments), the seats are heavy and it was just involved enough that I probably wouldn’t really consider just putting the seats back in for a single trip or anything. It would be a conscientious decision to go back to stock seating permanently. The Ram rear seat delete is pretty straight forward, from what I’ve read, compared to some other trucks that have amps and stuff that need to be relocated.
- The GG delete floor is pretty much level with the load flat floor, which is nice since I only did 60% (and was a concern before I installed it).
- if you’re not ready to fully delete, maybe see if you can find a used set of 60/40 rear seats with the loads flat floor. I’m sure you’d be able to source a set without too much trouble. While the full delete gains even more space by removing the seat back and bottoms, this might be a good compromise.
- the GG is nice, but stupid expensive for what it is (LineX coated plywood). I bought it used at less than half MSRP, which felt more reasonable, but still not cheap.
- If you’re a bit handy, you can make your own rear seat delete out of plywood without too much trouble for far cheaper, and you could probably even get it LineX coated and still be under half price of the GG. I built my own rear seat delete in my last truck; and considered it for this truck, but pulled the trigger on the GG because it was a decent deal and I was feeling lazy. Mind you, I will say the GG kit is nicer than what I would have come up with.
- the GG has closed side panels, which means you can’t just shove gear under it from the doorside, you have to open the little access hatch…which may not be accessible if you have gear on top of the load floor. You could maybe not install the side panel, but not sure how that would affect its stability.
- You do have access to the Ram bins thru the hatch; but the lid has to be removed since the front edge/leg would rest on the edge of the lid
