Can anyone tell me where the EGT1-5 sensors are located on the 2021 6.7l Cummins, and what are normal (min and max) range temps I should be seeing? I monitor temps with an Edge Insight CTS3 and those are areas of my concern. Thanks

#1 is right before the DOC, #2 is between the DOC and DPF, #3 is after the DPF, #4 is in the front of the SCR, #5 is in the SCR outlet

Normal temps vary depending on engine load and if it's doing a regen, normal regen temps are around 1050 degrees starting at the #2 sensor, under full load for an extended time you will see the temp get up to around 1000-1200 max on the front sensors, as the exhaust gas goes through the system it will cool some and the temp will decrease the farther you go back.

The above responses are not quite correct but superjoe83 is close. He is correct except for No. 4. It is mid-SCR, not in front. Clampguy1 has Nos. 3,4, and 5 incorrect. The locations are - #1 is right before the DOC, #2 is between the DOC and DPF, #3 is after the DPF, #4 is mid-SCR, #5 is in the SCR outlet.

Locating EGT Sensors and Normal Temperature Ranges on a 2021 6.7L Cummins

EGT Sensor Locations

On the 2021 6.7L Cummins engine, the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensors are typically located in the following positions:

EGT1: Near the turbocharger outlet.
EGT2: After the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC).
EGT3: Before the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
EGT4: After the DPF.
EGT5: Near the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst.

Temperature Ranges
Monitoring these sensors with your Edge Insight CTS3, you should see the following normal temperature ranges:
EGT1: 400°F to 1200°F
EGT2: 300°F to 1000°F
EGT3: 300°F to 1000°F
EGT4: 200°F to 800°F
EGT5: 200°F to 600°F

For accurate readings and secure sensor connections, using high-quality components like the Cummins ISL/ISM/ISX 21021850 V band clamp is recommended.

Monitoring these temperatures can help ensure your engine operates within safe limits and can alert you to potential issues before they become serious problems.

1200° is a bit hot for any operation on EGT1.

EGT2-3 will get above 1000°F during active regen

EGT 4-5 will exceed 800° when towing hard or in active regen.
