Dust entering cab -- 2021/2500 Crew Cab

I'll explain to them that on top of the fact that I noticed it on this trip I also am required to drive down a gravel driveway to access my home and that I have severe asthma and that if I have to go to the hospital they will have a potentially larger mess to deal with above and beyond just fixing an obvious issue.

just an update -- the dealer says this is a normal amount of dust.

It's also in for a transmission issue which has now been escalated to a new transmission. I need to see where this dust issue goes. If they pin it on "its normal" that is pretty lame and I'll have to now invest more time trying to sort it out. Other than telling me the dust is a normal issue the dealer has been very professional with me. I am on my second week with no vehicle so I am not happy but that is not the dealer's fault and not Rams fault -- there are major supply issues right now and it's pretty much out of everyone's control but I go back to the dust. I am ready to hunker down on this one. after more than a million miles on about 8 different vehicles I have never seen that much dust, not even close.

Viejo, Did you ever find a fix? I purchased a 2019 and live on gravel and am having the same issue.
I pulled the rear seats because I suspected flaps had come off the cab exhausters. (The vents on back of cab). Wasn’t the case but I went ahead and changed them. It fear they will still let dust in. I do not really want to reinstall the seats just yet because I want the dust to stop entering the cab. My previous 4 gen trucks never had this issue.

Also, did you find out what the vent on the door sill is for and where it goes?

I never got to the bottom of it. Took it to the dealer and they just gave me a stupid look when I told them that dust was still entering the cabin, they didn't fix anything. Long story short due to issues with my transmission I got my truck lemmon lawed and I just didn't follow up on it anymore. They tried to fix it and didn't or couldn't. I still have the truck in my possession due to a lack of available trucks to replace this one. I did cover the small vents on the door frame with tape and it did reduce the dust entering the cab but dust is still entering the cab. However, I also did try my best to cover the opening in the back panel so I really don't know what's up. Like I said -- I am just getting by till I get the new truck. It's really disappointing how incompetent the dealer has been. Worthless doesn't even begin to explain and don't get me started with ram cares or whatever they call themselves.

If I had to guess Id say it was the rear exhaust vents but those other vents do seem to play a role in the whole situation. I never did check the back vents. Let me know what you find out. It's rainy season out here so no dust for 6 to 7 months and by then I should have the new truck so I may never know.

I haven’t been able to figure out the purpose of the door frame vents. Once I got the seats out it’s pretty obvious the dust enters through the rear cab vents (exhausters). Sometimes due to the flaps missing. Mine were all there. But I replaced anyways, only $12 a piece.
I was sure this wouldn’t fix the dust issue. And have read that some just tape them off completely. To avoid the dust entering. I am unsure of what this will do, if it will even matter with the doors shutting and opening.
My wife asked if they make a filter to go over them. They don’t but that didn’t mean I couldn’t make one. I first tapped off one row, because I don’t like how man openings there are anyways. Then found some home vent filters at Menards. I used those doubled them up, and hot glued them into place. (Pictures attached) I kept the back seats out and drove it to work today and on the gravel seen no dust entering. Seems like it may work. When shutting the doors enough air still passes through to move the rubber flaps also.

Nice -- now I know what they look like from the inside. Like you, I had figured that I would just cover them. My idea was to do it with a piece of dense foam but I like the filter idea better. The interesting thing is that I went to a second dealer and the service guy I talked to said it couldn't possibly be the rear vents so that is why I went with covering the vents on the door frame. Makes you wonder how they have that job if they say it couldn't be that vent. I guess they see so many vehicles that it's hard to keep track.

when I get the replacement truck I'll do the same. My truck got so bad it looked like a 10yo work truck that had never been cleaned.
