Dually valve stem access

Fellow RAM owners,

What are you dually owners doing to check/add pressure to the rear tires? I have TPMS, so I know that the truck was delivered with 80 psi in the inside tires and 65 in the outside. I need to get them set to 65 psi per the door sticker.
The valve stems are virtually impossible to access. Has anyone found an extension or some means of getting to the valve stems?

80psi inside and 65psi outside? Some dealer Milton dual tire air chuck and tire gauge. Buy from their website, not Amazon or EBay. Lots of fakes on those.

just picked mine up and rear tires are all around 65PSI and front at 80PSI

So, I have a brand new Dually, never had one before. I purchased a similar one from Milton and it came in today. I am stumped, but how do you attach an air hose to this thing? If on the road and need air, how is it going to work?

I have a similar version for the camper. It makes sense, screw on a quick connector and, like you said, off to the races. It is too simple, my brain went awol. Thank You
 
Truck stop maybe? Or change the tire. In 30 some years of owning dual rear wheel trucks I’ve never had to add air while on the road.

Good to know. First Dually here, so lots of questions. Never have either with my SRW trucks when I think about it.
 
Since I have severe arthritis I have trouble holding the chuck onto the valve stem for an extended time as I air my duals up and down. So I got this to make it easier.

Certainly not the same, but our fire trucks all have extensions that are pretty stout, braided ones that allow easy access for checking pressure and filling as needed. We usually get them from NAPA. They make rigid ones that won't flop around and make noise too. (our current ones are secured through the center cap I believe) Again, not the same, but similar.
 
ok folks, please bear with me. First ever Dually. I have bought the air pressure gauge and Milton air chuck mentioned here. First, why is the air valve for the outside rear tire with a long metal extension and facing backwards? I lost 2-3 pounds learning how to use the gauge. Then, I am at a loss with the inner tire. Best I can see, and that is barely see, what appears to be a rigid long black plastic extension from that tire with a white tip at the end. I don't know if it is a cover as it doesn't look like an air valve. I also purchased the valve extensions mentioned here as well. They seem to be fine for the front tires but not sure about the rears.
 
2024 model. I bought the Milton and still have to fight with it. First it's not a straight shot when going through the holes in the cover. Once I do get the Milton on it gets stuck on the threads of the valve. The hole in cover is smaller than the wheel and a hassle. It takes 5 seconds to pop the cover off so I just do that.

I finally figured how to get that Milton to go in and it is a hassle lol. I am sure it will get better with practice. I wasn't sure if that black plastic thing with the white tip was an air valve. Initially tried to screw one off. The cover you mention I presume is the chrome one covering the threads and nuts? If so, how did you pop it off? First Dually for me and lots of questions.
 
I'm talking about the plastic fake "hub caps". The holes in them are way smaller than the holes in the steel wheels. Someone on a forum says buy the Milton and all your troubles will go away. Just isn't so, on mine anyway. The Milton is great for getting the depth ( I think I bought the 12" one ) and the straight shot to the valve stem, , but with the small holes in the hubcaps, not so good. You're still gonna fight that awkward angle. Pop off the hubcaps....Milton works fine.

The black plastic extension you're talking about is just some garbage Ram put on as an extension. All you're doing fighting it is bending the rubber valve stem. Keep using the long Milton, if that's what you have. BUT if you pop off the hubcaps ( takes 10 seconds ) it will make life easier.

Yes, I finally figured those extensions, and they work. I am using the Milton as well, still a pain but it works. How do you pop off the hubcaps? by hand, crowbar? Specially those rear tires. It can't be that hard or they would never sell a Dually lol.

If you are talking about the center caps on the duals, I just put on some gloves and give them a good yank. Usually end up on my ass when they let go. LOL
