Drop hitch size

I did a weigh safe. They sell them in town close to me and I have been satisfied with it.

I use the B&W setup with the 7 " drop. So far I haven't towed anything really heavy with it, but I like the setup. I like the feature of tucking it away when I am not using it. I was a little hesitant due to the price, but I think over the lifetime of the truck, I'll be happy with it.
I’m switching from a Ram 1500 rebel to a Ram 2500. I’m currently using the B&W with a 5” drop. Do you use the 7” drop on stock ride height? Trying to figure out which size drop to get.

I have the B&W with the 5 in drop. Wish I would've bought the 7. With that said I havent had any problems with leveling campers or trailers. Great product from an excellent American Co.

I use the whole 7" drop most of the time, and I am at stock height. 33" tires. If I was pulling a trailer with a heavy tongue weight, I'd probably shift up a notch, but 5" drop seems like it would be too tall truck side for me.

Cool thank you. So you’d definitely recommend the 7” drop for the 2500

Take with a grain of salt... my conclusive analysis is I should have bought the 7 in....
With that said I have never had a need for it. I have a 6x12 single axle, a 14ft dump, and a 26 ft enclosed. When I pull the small trailer it is a bit nose high but not as much of a concern with the axle clocked upwards cause no additional stress on other components. The other two trailers are heavy enough to squat the rear and level out.

I just bought a 6X12 enclosed Cargo trailer with tandem axles, I'm using a non adjustable 5" drop, which seems to be a perfect height. However I have not fully loaded the 7K GVWR trailer yet. I do have a Reese adjustable setup, but it has to much slop and you can hear it constantly.

My 6” curt adjustable does pretty good my flat deck does sit a hair high at the front unloaded but when loaded it sits perfect

Adding a data point for those that might search in the future for this topic like I did.

Rear air suspension, Carli leveling kit, 37” ridge grapplers, 8.5” drop hitch.

There’s 13” between bottom of hitch and ground. B&W recommends a minimum of 11”.

My buddy couldn't get into last year's deer camp because of his adjustable height hitch, was dragging while crossing a creek...had to pull his trailer in for him.

Couldn’t flip it to inverted and then run at the lowest setting (essentially a 0” drop)?

Is went with this one to tow my airstream, and it towed like a dream! I wish I would’ve upgraded to a torsion a long time ago!

My B&W adjustable hitch ripped a huge hole in the blacktop in front of my customers driveway, in the street, as I backed out. So I went with a offset thats is the exact height of my tandem trailer that is non adjustable, and my street to hitch clearance improved a lot. Although I kept the adjustable for that possible need for "Just In Case" if needed.

Becareful with these 8 and 10 in drops on a stock height truck... depending on what you tow you may drag the tail when entering and exiting certain areas where the road elevation changes.

I use the Curt drop hitch. Its nice because you get 2 and 2 5/16 balls or you could get the 2 5/16 ball and pintle combo which is all I use. Don't forget about pintle hitches when looking at some of those hitches. My other thought is regarding drop amounts. Unless you are towing smaller trailers, lower lighter stuff, or little tire trailers you may find that you don't need that much drop. Most trailers that our trucks will drag down the road sit sorta high at the high already - you'll need some drop but shouldn't need anything extreme.
