Well my friends, I have long story to tell. I bought a 2022 RAM 3500 SRW with the HO engine. I also (Always buy the Mopar max care extended warranties). The Truck is used to haul a dump trailer and equipment mostly during summer months. I may put on 1500 miles or so in the winter but that is all. I took delivery in Oct 2021, it is essentially 4 1/2 years old. Starting 1 year ago this month 3/2025 my truck started doing active regens every 40 - 50 miles. I took it to the dealer and the first thing they said was. You have the wrong air filter. It is TOO restrictive and its messing up the sensors. It was a WIX filter. Nothing special. I paid them 70.00 and they put in a mopar filter. Next week... same thing, regens every 40-50 miles, I took it back to the dealer, this time they stated that I have the WRONG MAF sensor. The one I had was made in Germany, I needed one made in CHINA? OK. They replaced it. Same issue. I kept thinking all along I had a leaking injector, I took an oil sample, fuel dilution should be <2, it was 6.9. Recommend an immediate oil change, which I did. I took it back a 3rd time and suggested that perhaps I have a leaking fuel injector, showed them my lab results, I said either its blow by, or I have an injector leaking fuel constantly causing the DPF to soot up quickly. I asked them to test the injectors, the dealer told me they would have to take all the injectors out and send them to be tested and it would take weeks to get them back. They did a manual regen. They said you have a bad DPF, they ordered and replaced the DPF. 2 weeks later right back to active regens. Now we are into May 2025. I had 2100 miles on new oil and filter, took another sample, it was at 5.9 after 2100 miles! I took it to another dealer, they had the truck for a month. I didn't buy it there so I am figuring I was on the low end of their priorities. They called me after the second week and said we did a injector shut down test, all the cylinders shut down except... NUMBER 6. Leaking injector. They replaced all the injectors, did a bore scope at my request to confirm the the number 6 piston and cylinder were ok. They were. Nov 6, 2025 everything is normal again. Then mid December I get the dreaded Service DEF system See dealer and the death countdown starts. I had to take it to the original dealer as I didn't have the miles to go to the other one. They found, failed DEF pump, leaking DEF injector (externally). Replace parts, all good until last week, then the same DEF error. I took it back and they said, no warranty, this is billable, your DEF fluid is contaminated, just like it was the last time. I said last time? It was a bad pump and injector. Nope it was contamination. They told me I had to use MOPAR DEF and they told me that "last time". NOT. Beside being against the law. I told them I am not paying for any repairs to the DEF system. They said come get your truck. I took my box of platinum DEF and my receipt from the last repair to the dealer. I was met by the raging service manager who dropped so many F bombs on me telling me to GTF out of "his" dealership. I handed him my receipt from the last repair and simply asked him to point out where it said the DEF fluid was contaminated and with what? He said, I don't give a **** about your paperwork , threw it at me and said again GTF out of his dealership. You have been a pain in my A$$ all along. I said nice way to speak to a customer who bought 7 cars from THIS dealership! He said I could care less, take your truck and GTF out now and don't come back. All the while this guy is cursing me out, 2 young women service writers were sitting there. I said nice mouth dropping F bombs in front of these young ladies, and apologized to them for his behavior. I ordered a Ford F350 with the 7.3 gasser. Done with diesels and done with RAM. Very sad situation, I liked my truck for 3.5 years and had no issues with it. Sorry had to vent this out. Don't waste your time on RAM customer care either. USELESS!
