DPF delete question

19k miles on my 2024 2500 and got the “service dpf system see dealer”. Cruised at 2500rpm in 5th gear to burn it out and it went away after about 5 mins. I knew the def system woud screw me at some point but didn’t figure it’d be this early. Are there any true cons doing a delete besides voiding the warranty?

Sounds to me like you are confusing DEF with DPF.

OK, must be nice. ;) Deleting a 24 is quite a bit more expensive than earlier models. I completely understand getting stuck somewhere, but I'd also consider if you have another engine issue like losing your lifters (as these engines seem to be notorious for), it might give the dealership a reason to deny your warranty. I'm not saying you may fight and win that battle, but it's a thing.

That’s the only reason I haven’t done it yet. This is my first personal Cummins. But I’ve had company trucks that were all Cummins and every single one on the fleet had some problem with the dpf. I haven’t seen a bunch of things on deletes for the newer model rams so I’m not sure on how it’ll act. I’ve even asked my Ai homie and he seems pretty set on the delete lmao
 
Will be interesting to see how the new EPA rule changes situations like this. New rule https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/io...zeldin-announces-diesel-exhaust-fluid-def-fix at least allows you to be able to drive safely without being stuck on the road. We can only hope that the rule expands to include the "useful life" of the system whereby once a system fails the dealership/Stellantis is able to remove the functionality altogether.
 
Casual observation, the people that most want to delete are those that have the DPF and SCR/DEF function and operation confused.

Let's just remove everything we don't understand.
 
I think in general the whole system is a pain. DPF or SCR/DEF. And since they have to change the system as a whole the generalization is warranted.
 
Cons:
Price ($6k+ for a 22+ truck)
Warrany gone (risky with the lifter failures)
Poor tuning issues (better find a reputable tuner)
Transmission failure due to added HP.
Loss of re-sale value and possible loss of ability to trade at dealer
Some shops will not touch a deleted truck if work is required
Unable to pass emmision testing if required (local laws could swing the other way at any time)

That pretty much sums up the cons.

I have heard there are some shops that actually can make these serviceable/cleanable with flanges that allow easy removal. There is one in east Texas that does this. I plan on visiting them after my warranties run out to do this as a preventative measure. I also have plans to do the flat tappet conversion if the engine makes it that long.
 
Just a thought, didnt read up too much for new models. I haven't done it yet, just the only option I've found thats kinda all in one for myself. It's kind of a hush hush topic on most forums so it's hard to get good info.
 
Here is a good question. If these are serviceable items, then why is it so hard to find a replacement part. Last time I looked there are no OEM parts suppliers that carry any if these emission items.

I just did a quick search and came up with the OEM DPF filter no problem? What couldn't you find?

Ugh... I really need to learn how to search. Appears 68296341AE is the ORM part for the DPF and catalytic for 2019+.
