Doing Transmission, Transfer Case and Differentials Oil Changes

I’m at 17,000 miles now at 3 years 4 months old with 80 to 90% towing and thinking of ordering Transmission, Transfer Case and front and rear differentials oil but the quantity seems off from talking to a tech at Amsoil. (was thinking of having my mechanic do it in May or so.)

I was told that I need 7 quarts for the Trans.

2 quarts for the Transfer Case

5 quarts for the Diffs.

I watched a You Tube guy that said he used 8 quarts plus 4 ounces for his Tran.

The tech also said that the Diff oil recommended is 75W-85 but from reading here on the forum most seem to be using 75W-90. So does it matter? The tech also said 3 quarts for the front and 5 for the back

Should I be ordering more Tran fluid ?

Trans fluid wont go bad sitting in the shelf for next time so a couple extra quarts is worth getting.
 
You’ll need 8 quarts of trans fluid, it takes just over 7 quarts for an Aisin.

75w-85 has been recommended by Ram for a while, likely for better fuel economy. 75w-85 is also new on the Amsoil severe gear product line.

If warranty is a concern don’t forget that there are also months associated with the service intervals. 24 months for trans fluid replacement, 18 months for diff fluid (with frequent towing), and 24 months for the transfer case fluid (with frequent towing).
 
Forgot to mention the Amsoil tech said the Tran oil is the same oil they sell you for the Transfer Case oil, but when I talked to a dealership they say ITS NOT the same.

I did not buy an extended warranty so I believe it was over 4 months ago.
 
It's an I don't feel like working day today. So for the sake of additional information in the thread here ya go on diff fluid. Always get a kick out of it.

To check the axle fluid, park the vehicle on a level surface. Take a piece of wire (or zip tie) and make a 90 degree bend two inches from the end of the wire. Insert the wire into the fill plug hole and use it like a dipstick. Remove the wire and measure from the 90 degree bend to the oil level.

For the 2500 (Non-Power Wagon) axles, the fluid level should be 4/5in ± 1/4in (20.3mm ± 6.4mm) below the fill hole for the rear axle and it should be 1/4in ± 1/4in (6.4mm ± 6.4mm) below the fill hole on the front axle.

For the 2500 Power Wagon and all 3500model axles, the fluid level should be 1/4in ± 1/4in (6.4mm ± 6.4mm) below the fill hole on the 9.25in front, 11.5in rear axle, and 12.0in rear axle.

Thanks but Ill be getting my mechanic to do all the greasy work :D He is an old friend, he does my cars and I do his home and shop heating...basically we have a barter system going on.

It’s not the same from Ram, but it is from Amsoil. I’m using Amsoil Signature Series ATF in both my Aisin and BW transfer case.

5 years/100K miles for powertrain.

It started when the 12.0” housing was first used in 2019.
