Does anyone get results with Ram Cares on this forum? We bought a new 2023 5500 and the transmission and the transfer case went out at 6K miles. Ram covered the repair, it just took over 60 days, but did get it fixed. Our problem now, is they totally have gone silent on the $ 1400 tow bill. Anyone have some in site or should I just go back to Chevy?

We've done the online form twice, no response. Private messaged them here, received an initial reply, waited and waited, messaged two more times, no response again.
Their customer service is terrible, and I"m being nice!!!

In no way am I defending RamCares (I’ve never dealt with them) or Ram vs Ford or Chevy.

Regardless of what you drive, this is the new normal. The vendor is in the driver’s seat now. After I hit a deer when my ‘24 3500 was less than two weeks old, I waited SIX MONTHS for it to be repaired. The last part to arrive? The radiator.

The claims adjuster was actually a pretty standup guy, and told me exactly why this is happening: After the whole Covid parts delivery fiasco, vendors realized they didn’t have to stock millions in parts inventory anymore. The public had been conditioned to wait on their own dime.

He told me a horror story in December - that there are a number of 2025 vehicles of various brands showing ZERO available parts in his inventory system (the first time in his career he had ever seen that). So a mirror knocked off in a parking lot? Months.

I know this isn’t the OPs complaint, but it’s similar conceptually (and gave me a chance to vent a little)…

My truck went down for collectively a month at 7,500KM with def issues, mine is also a 5500 and one of my primary sources of income "welding truck". Had to get a rental because it went into de-rate several times. Paid roughly 2500$ in rental fees over that time. Ram wouldn't cover the rental fees because i didn't OPT for the additional warranty/insurance during pickup. The dealership finally figured the issue out and the truck was good after that. But they did as little as humanly possible to attempt to exceed my expectations. After buying a 110k truck i sort of expect a dealership to go above and beyond but nope. I argued with ramcare about the rental vehicle but they wouldn't budge, they did say they would note on my file that i was "unhappy" with my experience. Cool.

at 72,000KM the def tank pump/heater went out during a cold snap. truck de-rated. So called the dealership..... parts are 2 weeks away somehow and they cant get me in for a MONTH, there answer was to just park it until my appointment came up and then they'd tow it in. Called around to other dealerships up to two hours away and still 2-3 weeks out to change a bloody def pump. Call my buddy who owns a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic shop and tell him the issue, he says give me 5 min and ill call you back. He had the parts that evening and installed the pump for me over the weekend. He cleared my codes which allowed me to drive until the weekend so i wasn't down at all.

Chat with the dealership to hopefully just get my parts covered under warranty for the pump replacement, NOPE! wont cover the cost of parts, labor, and i don't have warranty on the parts even though there Genuine MOPAR parts. Needed to be installed by a high school kid at a ram dealership in order to qualify for warranty coverage. Some people dont like the option of waiting a month for a simple job that takes 2 hrs.

So to answer your question, does Ram care? no... Does Ford or GM have better service? not likely. But the fact were all spending 100k plus on these trucks, the service side of things is ATROCIOUS, its a battle to keep these diesel trucks on the road in the winter.

i totally understand that things break down, but to me its the quality of service that speaks volumes especially for those in business. When my truck went down i wasn't offered a vehicle to drive, i wasn't offered for my payments to be covered while i was down for a month, no free oil changes. Nothing whatsoever. Almost like i was a massive inconvenience to them.

A GOOD example of exemplary service, i run a big blue 400 pipe pro on my truck great machine, 35k machine. Had a board failure at 2000 hrs...... i called my dealer and told them the issue and they told me to show up within the hr. Drive into the parking lot and there waiting outside with the forklift to pick the machine off my truck, without even asking he drives back out of the building with a brand new vantage 400 and puts it on my truck.... and says this is your machine until we get this one fixed. They had it full of fuel and ready to go to work, i was down for maybe a grand total of 1.5 hrs. THAT is service. and guess where i spend ALL of my money for welding consumables, machines, gas, and wouldnt consider going anywhere else.

For myself, i still think RAM has the best product out there, but its to the point where all 3 are so close it makes it hard to not shop around. I have about 1.5-2 years left on this truck before i trade it in. But ill likely at the very least consider Ford next time as well.

Ya Ram has definitely lost their way. They have to realize that they are at the bottom of the heap. The Chevy guys will keep going back because their grampa drove one and dad yadda yadda. Ford guys the same, my wife’s fam all drive Ferds …all of them! It’s just weird but look down on the Ram guy. Ram has to realize that they don’t have that advantage for getting away with crap. They have to try harder than the others just to have a hope of staying viable.

You’re assuming RamCares is to serve you instead of serve Ram. It’s purpose is to attempt to make Ram more money. Someone has decided that goal will be achieved without happy customers that want to buy again because of problems being resolved.

Agree with you. While I’m no fan of the Ram corporate model, it’s not unlike everyone else’s.

We aren’t free as consumers from being part of the problem, though. At least I’m not. I buy whatever brand I like at the time of purchase, from whichever dealer gives me the best deal.

And corporations are responsible to shareholders to constantly make and gain margin. So as others are pointing out, the remedy will be Ram failing because of lack of sales.

Unfortunately I have a hard time believing Ford or Chevy would see a competitor failing as an opportunity to really give something back to their customers…

The competitors will be similar. I don’t recall what’s in the owners manual /warranty regarding towing / reimbursement.

I’d go back to those documents and if it seems like it’s a coverable event and you still get no response then hit up an attorney for small claims court or do the small claims filing yourself.

I once took able Apple to small claims on my son’s laptop as the lithium battery expanded. I paid for Apple care and they refused to cover it saying it had been dropped. Wasn’t a scratch on it and since they never showed up on the court date and the judge saw the laptop case was pristine, the court made Apple send me a check for both the laptop and the warranty cost. It’s doable. Just document in detail.

Guaranteed Stellantis/Ram won’t bother to send a lawyer on your court date for $1500.

Good luck.

I had some things to take care of, contacted RAM CARE here on site, they said you're Canadian deal with their Canadian counterpart. Contacted them never got a reply.
My standard and extended warranties are up so I don't care if RAM CARE cares, I do all my own maintenance from now on.

I really need to re-title this thread Ram Care doesn't care. Is this a Ram owned forum?

The site is most certainly not affiliated directly with RAM. @RamCares team has a social media presence on nearly every enthusiast forum/site.

Vent/rant allowed but please don't make this site the hill you're going to die on.

FWIW @RamCares has provided assistance resolving owner issues on many occasions. Everyone's experience is different.

It's pretty sad when they do respond, ask for your claim number and then disappear, pathetic customer service

The majority of large companies have an organization similar to RamCares.

Not sure what that really means, but I have better things to do with my time than hang out here on your hill

It means we aren’t the ones causing or neglecting your issues... and corporations in America are willing to spend 10x more money to attract a new customer vs the 1x to simply make one loyal. We are mostly an amicable bunch of enthusiasts. We’ll offer as much as good advice, some of us bad advice, but ultimately we are just consumers like you.

And I'm saying why put up with it??? Forums and social media is a good way to expose their problems and maybe they will change, we buy three new trucks every 3 years, and I'm not going to stick with someone who doesn't take care of their problems

Because for every 10 people that come here with issues and horror stories there's another 50000 that are absolutely happy and problem free.

I have owned 4 6.7's and another 5-10 ram trucks over the years and have had 2 issues. 2 failed trans. If you think for a moment that ford or chevy corp is going to care how you feel, what tantrum you throw, what lawyer you threaten them will what so ever, you are mistaken.

ram cares is the middle man. they aren't the problem resolver. that's on you and the dealership. the amount of trucks you buy, the money you spend means nothing to them as your money isn't enough to even cover their moral building activities for the company.

I guess I'm not willing to set back and conform, you want to be brand loyal no matter what good for you. Just curious where you got those numbers there? Those are your estimates???
