Does Ram Care actually care??? I think not!

I’ll begin by saying that I’ve already been added to the list of AISIN transmission failures. But this isn’t about the failure of a truck. It’s about the absolute failure to respond by a manufacturer. The hardest part is trying to decide where to begin this post.

I’ll try to keep this brief. My story begins with my wife and I pulling our 35’ 5th wheel, and being stranded on a very rural North Carolina road, with no shoulder, blocking the only lane of traffic in our direction. We called the nearest Ram dealer (as directed by ram care) only to be told “We’re too busy. You need to take it somewhere else”. We then asked where they might recommend we take it, only to hear in response, “Nope. Sorry, I don’t know where to tell you to take it.” it gets worse from there, but again I want to be brief.

It has since been determined that we need an entirely new transmission. I’ve been without my truck for nearly 30 days. Was expecting the new transmission to arrive at the dealership, Tuesday, so we could fly back from Texas and pick it up today. We just learned yesterday that is not happening. Our “priority shipping status“ was “rejected” by ram. I guess my frustration is now centered on; if having a customers near $100K truck for nearly a month doesn’t register as a “priority”, what does?

I have reached out and made contact with a higher level executive with Stellantis. Someone I will not name here, yet, but their title indicates that customer care is their chief concern. It’s been two days since I reached out. After not hearing from this individual after 24 hours, I reached out a 2nd time. That did get a response. This person was supposed to call me today. As of yet, it has not happened. I guess, again, it’s just not a priority.

I see on other threads (not just on the Ram HD forum, but another RV forum as well) involving the ”known” AISIN transmission failures, that it appears as though no class action suits have begun. Well, their failure to respond, or recognize this as a priority, has led me to pursue third-party representation in what I believe will become a class action lawsuit.

For the record, I consider myself a very reasonable person. I understand the trucks and equipment will fail. However, I cannot abide with the absolute disregard or lack of priority I have seen from Ram.

I will keep everyone posted here on my progress. Curious how others may feel.

I feel the same way to truck makes not just Ram. I have relatives and friends with GMC Chevrolet Ford that are in the same boat always Hondas and all other manufacturers. Basically they don’t seem to care anymore. I could go on a rant about why I think this is occurring but I will stop there. Good luck hope for the best.

I’m right there with you. Same situation hauling a camper when the tranny failed. Luckily I got mine repair in under 30 days. I believe the truck would still be waiting for repairs if I hadn’t made an effort to continually badger the service advisors multiple times daily in their so called search for the repair kit.

I experienced the same lack of any concern from the dealership level all the way to Stellanis Corporate. The only person who showed any competency or concern was the actual mechanic who diagnosed and repaired our truck. There was only a few times I was able to reach him

I understand things happen to anything mechanical, that I can live with. It’s the lack of post purchase service and assistance that they brag about when you are writing out that check for the truck.

Keep us posted on a potential class action suit. Would be nice to recoup lost revenue and associated expenses from having to do the RamCare thing ourselves and at our own expense.

Update: Less than 2 minutes after this post was sent to the Stellantis rep, I got a call from the executive manager. I believe he is responding with the proper priority.

Regardless, I have continued my exchange with an attorney who handles this kind of thing. Seeing where that goes. I’ve never sued anyone, or been sued. I like to think I live by a code that has kept that from being required.

Unfortunately, at this point, I believe Ram/Stellantis need to understand, and be accountable for, their obligations to their customers.

More to come!

Why do you even ask if you know the answer

Lemon Law doesn’t only apply to vehicles with recurring issues. It also has a section for Out of Service for 20 or more business days within a 12 month period.

It may be worth contacting someone about that in NC.

Agreed. I'd be lemon lawing it. But whatever you do, don't let the fixing dealer or Ram know you're seeking legal help on this. They'd likely drop you like a hot potato.

I’m not wanting to pursue a lemon law claim. Fact is, I think it’s a great truck. My issue, specifically, is the casual and dismissive manner in which Stellantis, Ram, and Ram Care have responded. I’ve been pretty well supported (once we got past a very immature and and non-caring service advisor) by the service manager at the repairing dealership. However, his hands are tied by the above mentioned entities.

Really, my beef, and I think the beef of all those affected, centers on the fact that parts are not being made available for a known problem. Waiting 2 to 3 weeks for repairs is completely unacceptable, let alone a month plus in some cases. Particularly for people who are traveling, as was My case. I know in my case it would’ve been a month if I hadn’t started Aggressively going after it.

I don’t know. Perhaps the spark conversation I suppose. I believe it’s important conversation though. There are a lot of people affected by this, or who will be affected, and Ram Care sure isn’t responding. We all just have to wait until we’re stranded. I then we all get to deal with Ram Care. Which is time in your life, lost, that you will never get back. I don’t think I’m over stating it or being unreasonable to say that they are worthless. Not the individuals. The entity.

Please keep your comments civil and refrain from vulgar rhetoric.
So far i will agree with you! ram care is complete garbage, dismissive, and are basically people reading from a script. I get it... you sell thousands of vehicles per year. But when you sell them for 100k+ there should be a comparable level of service and after care there. Not nearly as bad as you but my truck was down multiple times this winter due to def issues with only 7000km on the clock, costing me thousands in lost work. " its a 5500 welding rig " The dealership was great, Ram care however was NOT. Ended up having to pay out of pocket almost 3000$ in rental vehicle fees that Ram told me to [mod redacted] basically, luckily the last time the truck was in the shop the dealership gave me a vehicle to drive while it was being repaired. Crossing my fingers wont happen again this year. For me these are all things i base my next truck purchase on, ya ya i know, there all probably like this.

yup kind of agree. I wasnt going to say anything. I dont have the asin but the rfe dipstick recall has been out for some time. Every time I am at the dealership, they say they dont have parts. RAMCARES creates a post asking who has not had it done. So I go through giving all the info, dealer info, get a claim number.... all to get an email (and yes I still have it and can post it), that I need to reach out to my dealer and if they do not have parts they would reach out to me when they do. DOH!! Thats exactly what has been going on since Feb of this year when I took my truck in for the last servicing. No call from the dealership, so I assumed they dont have parts, but they said they would call when they got them. Anyways, truck is ready for the next servicing. Apt set of 8/25 and Ill ask to have it done then. Bet they dont have parts still and right back to square one, even after providing all the info and getting a claim number lol.

I guess the only thing my efforts has provided, is proof they had ample time to get it fixed but were unable to when the truck catches on fire and I am in court expecting a brand new one on their dime. I have a claim number now I can give to my lawyer.....

All in all though, I really dont think anything is going to happen. It will get fixed when it gets fixed. Just got back from towing the toy hauler up to 12k ft elevation and the truck worked up some steep steep grades. Never skipped a beat and the transmission felt strong the entire pull.

I’m a big believer that we all get too much crap when we stumble, and not enough recognition when we exceed expectations. It is in that spirit that I’d like to acknowledge Ram Care, and those who led me to the happy ending that now closes this story…

It was just over a month ago that I was added to the list of AISIN transmission failures. To say the least, I was disappointed and angry. As much in the response I got from Ram Care, as I was the transmission itself. What a difference a month makes! What a difference in the new 2023 transmission I received!

I’m happy to report that I got my truck back about 3 weeks ago. I immediately hitched up to our 5th wheel in North Carolina, and pulled it to our home in the Texas Hill Country. It was perfect. I drive it daily, and it is now noticeably better than original. For those who don’t know, beyond the “K1” failure correction, Ram made several improvements/enhancements to the ’23 AISIN. It is much more smooth!

If you use your Ram to pull a 5th wheel, you might enjoy following “Our Road Less Traveled” on YouTube/Facebook. I mention them because this forum led me to them. They experienced the same failure. Ultimately, Clay responded directly to me by phone. His help and info led me to Mike MacDonald - Executive Referrals Manager with Stellantis. Mike’s efforts, at the very least, let me know that someone at Ram actually cares… First, he helped to expedite the shipment of the new transmission. Second, he assured me that every dollar of my near $4300 in trip interruption expenses would be reimbursed (I just received the check). Then, he went above and beyond to comp us a Maximum Care (125K/8 year) Warranty (worth $9K)! In contrast to the warranty, it may seem less significant, that Mike has sent me 2 personal emails in an effort to make sure I’m happy, and the truck is performing well. But I truly appreciate that!

I’d also like to acknowledge Don Mele, Service Manager at Boone CJDR. He had my truck on the lift 10 minutes after the transmission was received, and I was driving it 24 hours later.

I’m not saying everyone will have this kind of experience. It took some effort to pursue this, and get this result. But I now have an answer to my initial question. YES! Somebody at Ram Care does care!

Ask him when we can order the tow mode camera that has been impossible to get even though it's an advertised feature of the DRVM.

Ask your lawyer friend if we can sue stellantis for that. I'm literally ready to throw my money at whatever lawyer has the reasonable ability to take this case haha.

WOW - Thank you for sharing the happy ending to such an unfortunate experience. I do use my '22 Ram to pull a 5th wheel (so far without issue) and I'm taking notes..,

Man I hear ya I just bought a 105,000 dollar 2022 ram 3500 6.7 ho ,

I know how ya feel I just bought a 2022 ram 3500 6.7 HO AS69rc transmission all forward gears went at 12,500 it sat at the dealership in bend , just shy of month and they were Dicks. Now at 16,800 it,s doing the same thing it did before all forward gears went it complete ******** and I always felt it shifted weird for a heavy hauler the digging deeper and finding that the truck fuel de rates on every **** to bring the torque down to almost nothing until the clutches in gauge so they willing and knowingly mated the aisin to the 6.7 knowing that the aisin couldn't take it. So to hide it the fuel de rate . If I knew that I would have never bought the truck! I am tired of being screwed by ram a class action lawsuit needs to land right in there crooked lapsScreenshot_20231104_223821_Chrome.jpg

Okay, honestly, I don’t know how this forum posts really work, such as to whom I’m responding. I’ve been meaning to update my situation.

It took a full month for the dealer to receive and install my complete new transmission. And, at my insistence, it was a 23. I’d learned that to avoid reoccurrence, I needed to get a transmission made after Feb of 23. Beyond the greater reliability, there were enhancements that made for better/smoother performance. I’m finding that to be true. Anything installed today will certainly be a 23 or beyond, so hopefully everyone will experience what I have thus far. I’m very pleased, but continuing my prayers on it!

Here’s the better news: There is someone at Ram (Stellantis) who does care. His name is Mike MacDonald. While he really couldn’t expedite the dealer getting the transmission, he proved to be a great resource in a lot of ways. He got us full 100% reimbursement for our $4500 of trip interruption expense. And expedited the payment! After we’d begun driving home, out of the blue, he called to tell me he’d given us their top warranty plan (8 years/125K miles) bumper to bumper with $0 deductible. Worth over $9K! Just for our troubles.

So, while it seems they’re few and far between (not just with Ram, but any manufacturer, tgere are people who care. It cost me a month of frustration and use of my truck, but Ram (and Mike) made me better than whole. I guess a happy ending, you could say…

Really, a happy ending to this shlt story. Happy for you and yours. Good to know there is someone worth a damn at Ram.

See if he can get us a tow mode camera. I'm still furious about that

Are you just trying to get a camera system to add to a trailer?

If so, just build yourself a system….Here’s a way posted below:
