Does the tick ever quiet down?Mine doesn't squeel, but it has lifter tick for days.
Well, I'll just expect it on mine too then.i have the chirp on my 2020 done it since new and 16500miles now and every single one I have heard does it. I have owners say theirs does not do it but as soon as they start them I hear it. Every one on the lot did it when I bought mine. I do not have lifter tick but that stupid chirp.
I hear mine occasionally while driving. I swear it sounds like an exhaust leak sometimes.I have a ticking/tinging sound from the exhaust where the 2 pipes after the cats merge into one.
Once it warms up, it goes away.
I had a 2019 5.7L and upon start up it sounded like an exhaust manifold leaking as loud as the ticking was. I hated it. I love the growl of the 6.7L now...I hear mine occasionally while driving. I swear it sounds like an exhaust leak sometimes.
The exhaust leak noise is the “chirp”No chirp here. Lifter noise until it warms up. Exhaust leak noise after that
I would think if it was some type of weld issue it would slowly go away as it warmed up, sounds like a switch gets flipped (not literally) when it warms up it just stops. Kind of makes me wonder if there is some type of back pressure valve that is supposed to help the engine warm up that opens at a certain temperature…Ok, so if the exhaust tick is the chirp, then yes mine has it, until it warms up.
I know some had a chirp and it was the belt, so thought that was what people were talking about.
Maybe if we call it the exhaust chirp, it would not confuse people.
As for the chirp itself, I talked to my exhaust guy about it and if it could be fixed.
He didnt have any ideas on how to fix it. Seems like a bad design/manufacture of the 2 to 1 merge pipe off the cats. Once it heats up, it seals off completely and the chirp goes away. Seems to be coming from where the 2 pipes are formed into a oval and slid into a single round pipe. Maybe not a complete weld between the 2 pipes.
