Do you think Laramie or Big Horn seats will hold up longer?

Anybody else get in tiffs with their wife over this?
There may have been a conversation or two somewhere along the line lol. And not just with her! It is tough cuz our trucks are pretty tall. Even with steps some people have no choice other than to fall out.

OP, I was curious about this myself and just called Katzkin and they said a recover of everything with an OEM color black, grey, or beige is $1500 installed, or you can get more custom styles for $1900.
My dealer used a vendor to install the Katzkins. Cost was $990 plus tax.

I had a few King Ranches and the original saddle leather was ruined easily. I was poking around what to do about it and saw I could buy factory replacement skins fairly cheap. Obviously I want my stuff to last, but after that aha moment I don't fret over some of these things lasting forever. I'd rather use it and replace it at the 8 year mark than baby it to last 15 years. Seats, carpet, mats, heck even some plastics are cheap and easy to replace if you want to go the distance.
This is a great point! I look at my vehicles right now and at one point they were brand new and I probably cleaned them very thoroughly for a while. But then, at some point in time that I can't remember exactly when, they got a few scratches from the parking lot or a few chips from rocks on the road and maybe I didn't vacuum them as often but they still look nice when they are cleaned up. I guess at some point along the line, you are going to ease up a little bit so I think that is great advice to just use it and enjoy it. If you take care of your stuff, it is going to last but natural wear happens. $1000 or even $1500 is a small price to pay for years of enjoyment. Great advice Frank!

I just traded my 2017 in on this truck and when I deep cleaned it for trade, I removed the seat covers I had on it and fabric looked showroom new. They were purchased for this protection. That being said, I could have probably put new factory seat covers for the same money. Made me make the decision to Just get the better stuff when buying the next truck. Pay up front, or pay over time. Pay the manufacturer or the aftermarket.

The engine may but the emissions components will not. In the near future good engines will be thrown away because support for the emissions no longer exists and the spare components are impossible to find at any cost.
That’ll be good for the salvagers and spare parts anyway. People are very ingenious when presented with a monumental task.

The cloth seats in my 04.5 were in great shape after 16 years. That said, it only had 72K miles on the clock and I kept it pretty clean.

The cloth seats in my '04 are completely trashed. However, it's hard to complain with over 320k miles....

What's the point of having nice seats, only to cover them?

Kind of depends. Our Laramie gets used in some very dirty environments. FCA in their infinite (non)wisdom put suede on the seats. A very soft suede. They're gonna get trashed fast if we don't cover them.

Same here. I use one of these covers:

I think this just helped me out too because I do not think that Laramie interior is worth $4k more, right?
There is more to this than the seats. A lot of options are not available on Big Horn. I considered going with fully optioned out Big Horn vs Laramie, then I found out the Laramie with the options I wanted is in the same price range as Limited (fully optioned out Laramie is more expensive than the Limited and they're still not in the same class still). So then the choices were, sacrifice some options and save money with Big Horn, or get everything I want and pay up for the Limited. Chose Limited as I don't buy trucks every couple years.
If I recall the options that aren't available on Big Horn are: push start button, remote start, remote tailgate release and dampened tailgate (or whatever it's called), leather seats and some other options that I can't remember now, not to mention just better quality interior materials. Nothing that I couldn't live without or replace with aftermarket

Push button, remote start, and dampened tailgate are all available on a Big Horn. I have all those on mine and all you need to enable the remote tailgate release is to buy a 5 button fob and have it synced to the truck. The options you can't get on a Big Horn are leather, power passenger seat, ventilated seats, heated rear seats, memory seats and mirrors.

OK, not getting this one. I had a '20 Bighorn. It had push button start for example. I added the dampened tailgate for about $25 and 10 minutes. I now have a '21 Laramie, because there were no Bighorns equipped as my '20 was, and the Laramie had what I wanted (and a bit more). Limited is way over the top for me given my needs. I mean, I get everyone has their own opinion, but the only thing in the Limited that I prefer over the Laramie are the seats - and they were not worth the thousands extra - to me.

Big Horn definitely has remote start. Going through the list, it looks like some standard Laramie features unavailable on the Big Horn are the leather seats, proximity entry, remote tailgate, wheel flares, memory power adjustable pedals, and LED lighting in the overhead console. There may be a few more available options with the higher end packages like the Harmon Kardon system and wireless phone charging, but it looks like most options except those mentioned above are available on the Big Horn. It really depends on how you select the packages as well. For example, I initially had a Big Horn build that was only a little over $1 less than the Laramie. Then I decided I wanted the 12" screen and by adding the Tech Package to the Big Horn for $3k, it includes the 12" screen , LED lights and Alpine system (which are standard on the Laramie), and basically all of the stuff that comes in the towing tech group. To add the the 12" screen alone to the Laramie is $2k and there is no package that includes it so by the time I did that and added the towing tech group, it was over $4k more.
