Have 1500 miles on my new truck and already have 3 chips.
2 in the “chrome” and 1 in the grill plastic. Just my luck I guess ‍♂️

207k+ on my 1500 and never had this happen.

The ‘’chrome‘’ nowadays is thinner than a blonde one:p. Up where I live on a gravel road connected to a salt covered road chrome bumpers bubble up like crazy. I get my trucks with pained bumpers so I can at least do something with them.

Thats chrome covered plastic its been garbage on all the rams from 2nd gen till now... where i am the ore hauling trucks like throwing large stones that cause that kinda damage often

Ya that chrome paint they put on bump these days ain’t worth $#!+. Back in the olden-days you could bounce a 22 short off of a 58 Buick bumper and not leave a mark ;).

It looks like when they chrome dip the bumpers its a quick in and out no letting the chrome build up.... i think i have an old 4th gen rear bumper i should see what kind of damage a .22 short would do then see how the .32 special would do lol

Collins Collision Products in Loveland, CO used to be a client when they were still in business. Interesting operation to see them doing heavy plating on vintage stuff.

Even more interesting to see the craptastic repairs on plastic bumpers used by body shops instead of new.

the amount of things the bodyshops “fix” now is ridiculous my wife's cousins truck had most panels of the cab changed under insurance job after a roll over instead of putting a new or even used cab on it....
