Disabling RSRA (Rear Seat Reminder Alert)

Jimmy,
Do you have an ETA on when your list will be live in Alfa?
No idea, I can’t get a response from him. In the meantime, I can tell people what to change in their backup files for whatever settings they’re looking for.

I'm all for safety but this is ridiculous. Do you really need a reminder to check for your child?!! Every spring/summer the news has stories about things you can do to prevent leaving your kid in the back seat. One year they said to "put something valuable back there, like your cell phone" and I about lost my mind. So your phone is more valuable than your child? Wow, the world we live in.

Anyway I digress. I'm not an idiot so I don't need reminded to check my back seat for a human being that depends on me for survival, or even a pet for that matter. I want to disable RSRA but it's pretty clear from the forum that the option isn't listed even though the owner's manual says you can.

So my question is, can you disable it with AlphaOBD, Jscan or other brand of programmers?
I have an appointment next week to have a recall taken care of. While it's there I asked the dealership to disable RSRA. I doubt they'll do it but worth a shot I guess.

That said, I also have a Kaodtech cable on the way, and a vLinker on my desk waiting for it to arrive (so I can change tpms thresholds). Once installed it's just a matter of activating the software of choice (I downloaded the demo of both of the previously mentioned programs). If one can disable RSRA and the other can't that's the one I'll activate just in case the dealership can't/won't turn it off. But I can't seem to find it in either programmer, but there's a ton of options to look through. Does anyone know if either can do it?
Go into vehicle setup you can turn it off in there, I did.

This entire thread is about the fact that you couldn't on 95% of 2023 trucks. It wasn't until a few specific models showed up with the option available that Jimmy was able to pinpoint the values that need to be changed in AlfaOBD in order to enable the option for the rest of us.

Sorry I can see the whole thread now. For some reason only his original post came up and showed today's date. Once you replied to my post did the whole thread show up and showed the original date he posted the thread. It's just so weird how the same vehicles from the same manufacturers are so different.

Yeah, it makes no sense why they can't ll do it. Thanks for trying to help though.

The diagnostic data has been gathered, and sent to Ram. Now I wait to see what they have to say about why I can't toggle the option but trucks built 2 months later can. And of course cross my fingers for a solution/update.
Just an update. Apparently we've gone with the "ignore it and it'll go away" option. I've heard nothing back. I suspect a bit over 4 months should have been more than enough time to sort it out.

@RamCares any ideas on turning off RSRA? Is there a fix ever planned for those of us in that 3 month window that can't disable this anti-safety feature which has conditioned me to ignore the warning chime?

I am having my dealer look into the Rear Seat reminder as well as not being able to save Aux Switch setting on my truck with the digital dash. Build date was 04/2023

I took a vehicle config backup before taking the truck into the dealership but haven't had the chance to see if they changed anything when they had it.

They were able to get Aux 6 to remember last state but I am still not able to save any other switches. The digital cluster just says "Setting not Saved".
We checked out a few 1500's on the lot with 12" screens for the Rear Seat Reminder and none of the them had it.

If the dealership can't figure it out I could definitely use @Jimmy07 to change my backup file to add Rear Seat Reminder Toggle.

I figured if I gave the dealer the chance to try and fix both issues it might help out a few other ram owners that don't have alfaobd.

If anyone has ideas to try for the Aux switch memory I would love to hear it. I am able to change and save Momentary/Latch , and Battery/Ignition. I am unable to save the Remember Last State while the switch is programmed to ignition power.

No need to change backup file. Settings have been updated in alfaobd.
CustSetMenu 3: FOA Type CSO= TYPE 2

Ram/Stellantis, or the dealership, will never update or change that setting, so if you want the rear seat reminder toggle in the radio, just do it with alfaobd.

Thanks for the quick reply! Any idea with the Aux switch settings not saving?

I still can’t figure out for the life of me what those acronyms mean and how they relate to RSRA.

Have a new wagoneer for a rental this week and it has the setting in the radio. Had to disable that and the mirror tilt (both mirrors!!??)

FWIW, That new Hurrycane is damn snappy. Spanks the traction control on this poor thing often.

Yeah, not a fan of the mirrors tilting down when shifting into reverse either. I get the idea behind it to help see lines/curbs better, but then you can't use them to actually back up. Maybe good for people who reverse using the camera instead of mirrors? IDK, but I turn that off too.

Yes, that's where it's supposed to be, and on most trucks that's where it is. Unfortunately there was about a 3-4 month window where it wasn't an option, they won't (or can't?) enable the option, and won't deactivate it because it's a "safety feature."
The dealership basically ghosted me after the last visit where they were allegedly gathering diagnostic data for FCA. Ramcares asked for some information (VIN, name, phone number, email, etc) after I sent a message directly to them. But after provided the requested information have gone radio silent too.

It's been a year, and I don't really notice the chime any more. But that was exactly what my concern was. Now if I have a legitimate notification that needs my attention, I've been programmed to not even look at the screen. What a great, anti-safety feature.

At this point, my only hope is that the next time Uconnect pushes a mass software update it will appear (I'm on the latest revision last I checked). I am very much unhappy about this, and I've let FCA know about it. Such an easy for them to fix but won't makes it very hard to recommend Ram to friends. It's a great truck otherwise, and I'm not getting rid of it but this just pisses me off. It's more that I won't recommend Ram for the lack of customer care, than for the truck itself.

A Uconnect update can’t make the setting appear because the setting that puts it in the radio is in the BCM. It would take a new BCM firmware flash, which is very rare, and only happens if there’s a recall that needs a bcm configuration addressed, and even if that ever happens doesn’t mean they’ll address that particular setting.
The setting is populated in alfaobd to change. Yours is set to Type 1, and it needs to be set to Type 2:

You say you have JScan, so when you get a chance, connect to your truck, go to Modules > Body Controller > Configuration > type “csm3” in the search bar, and see if FOA Type CSO is in the list of settings. If it isn’t, let me know and I’ll see if they can get it added.
