Am I just a dipstick or does anyone else have difficulty reading the oil level their Hemi 6.4 oil dipstick?
Seems like there is oil halfway up the stick, way past the “full” line. Sometimes if one side has a clean-ish line the other side still reads splotchy and high up the stick
I usually let mine sit over night and check it and it seems much easier than when checking while still hot because of what you are seeing..I also found dumping in the full 7 qts seems to over fill it a bit. I change it when fully warmed up and let it drain until no more drips come out.
I’ve usually done 6.5 qts at the oil change, from what I can tell that is pretty full on the dipstick, I agree 7 would be overfill. Yes if it’s been sitting it’s easier to read, but I should still be able to get a good read if it’s been sitting for a couple minutes... but I feel like that is tough
Sitting overnight and then checking is always going to read over full. Change the oil when hot and then let it sit for about a minute after running it to fill the filter before checking. 7 quarts puts me just below the middle of the safe zone on my power wagon
